Halloween

Looking for a decent fog machine (new). Dry ice worked fine over the years, but a nice fog machine would be much nicer.

Anyone have recommendations?

Yeah, a little early, but better than finding out stuff you need is sold out.

Spirit Halloween has fog machines, but not sure on the quality of their stuff. There's a place up in North Van that has equipment, but it's rental only, I believe.

I don't know how "high end" your trying to go, but wal-mart usually has them for the $50 price range.

I was willing to spend 200 to 250, because the cheap ones tend to break. I have this feeling it's either cheap or very expensive with nothing in between. My 200 - 250 budget is probably not going to be enough for the quality machines.

My cheap one crapped out last year. I'll be on the lookout as well and update this thread if I find a happy medium.

How do those electronic fog machines work?
Is it an oil you have to add? I remember them from the old high school dances. They had a distinct smell to the fog.

punkwax 09-19-2016 01:29 PM

The one I had took a liquid but it wasn't oily thick..

Yeah, they have a funky door, but the ones they use professionally on movie sets and concerts are pretty safe.

I bet you get cancer and birth defects from smelling the oily stuff from the cheap ones, lol.

I'm gonna use a projector to put up scary shit on the windows, this year. I was talking to this guy about how he's done it in the past.

Go to long and mcquade and see what they use in there rental department and buy that. If they rent it out it should be pretty durable. Try to get one with a timer.

An electronic cigarette is pretty much a mini fog machine. Heating element + propylene glycol.

Fuck I wanted to buy one from walmart for 20 bucks last year, it was like 80% off after halloween, but I left the store and forgot to go back. This thread reminded me now 1 year later.

Don't even know what I would have used it for, but for 20 bucks, fuck it.
