01 QX4

So my stock CD player for my 01 QX4 finally died.
I want to replace it with aftermarket head unit with bluetooth , but read it online that the BOSE systems are very difficult to adapt with a aftermarket head unit.

Anyone done this before? result? How much cost am I looking at?
Don't really want to rip out the whole sound system for just the head unit.

Thanks!
BTW, total noob here.

I've done many of these vehicles.
The Bose system is pretty easy to adapt to. You only need a Nissan harness and turn the factory Bose amp on with the blue/white wire from the deck.

If you are hesitant in doing this then I would recommend getting a professional to do it as removing the top vents can be a pain. PM me and I can help you out. :)

I replaced the head unit with a double din unit on my 01 QX4 as well.
I followed OD's instructions and it was very easy.
Actually, the aftermarket deck sounds way better than the stock deck.

The biggest issue is that the opening for the stock deck is bigger than a double din so you will need to fab up a cover for the opening or buy a single din deck and an adapter.

Not all that hard to do. Only issue I find with these vehicles is if you use the low level inputs from the deck there's no output, if you use the high level output the signal tends to be too strong and you end up with a lot of hiss (noise floor). If the noise floor doesn't bug you, then you're all good. Otherwise there's ways to remedy the noise. :)
