yep, that adds to it too. from when they are young they are told to keep their personal thoughts to themselves and just agree and be nice to everyone no matter the situation. they are never told the value of no. add this with the ecalator system and the lack of individuality... ugh

Ah i see,i'm not trying to put the "blame Game" on her,it is a sad Story and My thoughts are with those effected.

I just wonder if this will put a Black Eye on Tourism from japan with this recent incident,or Learn them not to trust Strangers so much away from home

When i was in Japan a year ago I noticed kids as young as 5 were taking the train to school by themselves. Apparently really common throughout Japan -- they would have an address on their backpacks for strangers to help them if they got lost.

Yes it's very common. I was born in Asia and walked to school by myself starting at Grade 1 or so.

dbaz 10-03-2016 10:56 AM

^ walking 5-20min to school is one thing, taking a train for 2hrs each way is another

Nobody works for free. Why are people surprised there's profits involved. :rukidding:

Aren't those tasks usually provided by the school like academic advisors, student services, etc which are included with tutition?

Pretty common. When I was in elementary school in Japan, I used to commute an hour one way for my violin lesson after school. I walked in a relatively dark neighborhood too from the station to the teacher's house. Less common for school commute unless you are in some private school I guess. Typically there would be buddy systems arranged and kids would walk in packs to school.

Well, let me tell you how I got to school when I lived up north. I started at around 5:00 am, walked for 15 miles uphill in snowshoes during the winter and then crossed two rivers over rope bridges............ shall I go on?

Had ski's on my back to use when going back home, downhill.

Ah, kids these days have it made.

flagella 10-03-2016 06:45 PM

Thought you were gonna say walked uphill both ways.
