| Parking between the last meter spot and intersection
I'm basically wondering if we can park (for free) in these spots, see below.
Below are two examples where after the last parking meter spot, there is enough space for another car to park, with reasonable distance to the curb:
In this case, two cars squeezed in (before the car at the meter drove away) Maybe two cars are pushing it, but the red SUV imo is reasonably far enough away from the curb:
I found this in the Vancouver Streets and Transportation site: Parking when there is no signage | City of Vancouver
But my argument is that there are areas like this where they specifically put a sign to indicate no parking/stopping behind that meter spot:
And this spot where it doesn't even adhere to it's "6 meter" law if a car were to park in that last metered spot:
Thoughts and opinions? Anyone got a ticket trying to park like this before?

Look at the meter... if its a 2 metered, then you can park there... is the last metered parking has only 1 meter to insert money, then you can not, as this means that the metered parking spots ENDS there.
In all of those images, EXCEPT with the red SUV (I cant see the meter) is allow to park because it has 2 meters... if thers a car already parking in the last metered spot, then no more after that...

I'd say yes, you can definitely get away with it in cases where there is enough room after the last meter and still 6 metres from the intersection. It's a technicality, but it should hold up in court.
When in doubt, take a photo before you leave your car
Kinda like the motorcycle trick, where you park in the 2ft between the last meter and the no stopping sign. My favourite

Think about it like this. If the city felt there was room there for another car, they would have put another meter there.

^^ that doesn't answer his question at all.
but anyways, I work in that area, and parking enforcement heavily patrols that place (I've seen an entire block of cars with tickets!!) -- just check to see if they have any tickets on their windshields. if after like a week of checking and no one has tickets, i'd say it's safe there. From what I can tell, they check at least every 2 hours in that area.

No ticket... but this area also seems quite random in the frequency of whether they check the meters and 2hr parking spots multiple times a day or none at all. I could have just been lucky.
I've had my car ticketed while shuffling around in the 2hr spots (tried to dispute but they said within 24hrs, you can only park for 2hrs within a given block), while I've also dodged a ticket when I stupidly forgot about my car and left it at a meter from 8am - 1pm without paying. Quote:

Audi in the pic is too close to intersection. I've been ticketed in similar situation before. And the ticket is actually more expensive than your regular parking ticket.

This was asked before.
The answer that time was inconclusive. but If a street has a series of meters and then space left on the end, it is most likely because the city determined that there wasn't enough room for a car to safely park on the end.

Theres no free parking in a pay parking area unless otherwise noted...
I mean sure you can try.. maybe you get lucky first few times... but you will get a ticket... I mean why wouldnt the city put up another meter and make money if they could...

Id say all those end spots would be within 6 metres to the end of the sidewalk. The 6th ave and Fir photo of the the red explorer is questionable though. That would depend on how much space the city reserves for each metered parking spot.
5.4 meters from the head of the meter. Then I'd assume at least another 6 from there to the sidewalk. http://former.vancouver.ca/bylaws/2952c.PDF

measure, spray can mark, and take pics.
you've done your due dilligence if you get a ticket.

I think a lot of people underestimate how far 6 meters is, that's 20 feet, the average car is about 15 feet long. So unless it looks like you can fit another 2 cars between the crosswalk and the front of the car at the meter, you're going to get a ticket.
Also, it's 6 meters from the perpendicular crosswalk, not the corner, which means it can look like there's enough room for another car, but technically there isn't. Parking when there is no signage | City of Vancouver |

no.
where i used to work on oak and west broadway, there is a spot just like this and motorists who park there thinking it's free were ticketed almost on a daily basis. i remember looking at one of the tickets walking by and i vaguely recall mention of the 6m thing in the citation box and reference to number to a parking bylaw. i'm sure the COV intentionally leave it unmarked to feed on people's ignorance of the rules... why eliminate a guaranteed source of revenue?
