Winter wiper blades

Do you guys use those special winter wipers for winter time driving? And do you take them off once Spring comes back like you do with snow tires?

Just picked up a set of trico Ice winter wipers. But now think they shouldn't be kept on all year as it will be overkill on the rubber?

Overkill.

Freezing cold temperatures causes plastics to be brittle, causing premature failure of the blades. A standard blade is fine for our winters. The winter blades are usually more of a one piece design, less seams to break etc.

I use the solid style wiper blades for winter, but I experience far more snow while driving than you guys do down on the coast. Around Vancouver/GVRD, the standard style blades are fine.

I also just treat them as consumables and simply swap them out with new once they start going bad. They're cheap enough that I'm not going to store them over the summer.
