pothole damage experiences

was out past Mission last weekend when I hit a pot hole
wheel/tires were fine but it actually cracked the paint on my bumper...car is stock height BabyRage
unfortunately a large portion just flaked off few days ago

anyone have luck in the past getting ICBC to pin damages to whoever maintains the road? I have dash cam video.

You'd have to prove the pothole cracked your bumper.

If you don't have anything from that day, they'll say it was damaged else where/under a different circumstance. Proving a paint chip damage from a pothole (unless your dashcam catches the paint crack on film, which is unlikely) is likely a tough sell. Whereas if you hit a pothole and junked your wheel/tire it would be noticeable on film pretty quickly and an easier claim to make.

Keep in mind there are very short limitation periods when dealing with the city. So along with receipts, make sure you have an email or letter letting them know that you car was damaged. I think you have 2 or 3 months but don't quote me on that.

Icbc has no interest in trying to sue somebody on your behalf for pothole or construction damage. You can claim it as a single car accident and it WILL effect your insurance rate. You have to personally approach the company or city about the road conditions etc.
