Jewelry insurance

Does anyone on here have any experience buying insurance for engagement rings and/or other fine jewelry? Which companies have you dealt with, and what are your experiences like?

Currently have a quote from "Perfect Circle, by Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company" which has a relationship with Blue Nile from whom the ring was purchased from. Not sure if there are any better options from other vendors.

TIA

why does one insure their engagement ring?

what is the insurance covering?

If you have home insurance, you can usually get a separate jewelery policy added on. Costs vary.

We used to insure my wife's ring on our home insurance policy, I think it was around ~100$ extra a year. If you go this route, get a local company to appraise it (it will usually be higher than B.N. appraisals)

When we switched companies we dropped the additional policy on it. There is a default amount it is insured for now, which is common for virtually all home insurance policies (check your fine print as it varies)
