VERY minor tire bulge....replace? Ordered a set of new Michelin AS3's in September, done no more than 3000 kms on them. Found there was one small bubble/budge in the driver rear wheel. It looks very minor, barely noticed it myself. No idea where this even happened. To my knowledge these are creating by hitting big potholes or curbs. I dodge most potholes while driving and never drove into a curb ever so... http://i.imgur.com/E3XiHJgl.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/LNfBFRvl.jpg Worth to replace? |
Can this be warrantied? |
I think this should be covered under warranty but always check with seller I guess. If they refuse I'd say it's very minor and it should still be ok to use |
Definitely fine to use. |
Take it back to where you got it to have them look it over, or contact Michelin directly as they all come with a warranty. It's common with truck tires to have an overlap seam on the sidewalk that can mimic a bulge, but it is just an overlap and it's not a flaw. Though in my years of experience I've never seen it on a pilot sport... |
Thats pretty early on. Really hope warranty helps you out here. In other anecdotal experience though, our old family vehicle drove just fine on 7 year old tires... all of them were almost bald and had huge tire bulges on them. They were also Uniroyal pieces of crap to begin with. The car didn't have ABS, so slamming on the brakes in the rain would produce a 4-wheel shooting projectile with absolutely no traction. No blowouts though...haha.:lawl: |
Emailed Michelin, hoping for a good response. Would suck if they blamed it on user damage. Ordered these from a local shop, not a direct Michelin dealer, no receipt  |
Shouldn't the shop have records? |

Tires are the only thinking keep safe contact with the road, I seen first hand what bad tires can do. I had crap tires on a 540i many years back. As I went around a corner with slight throttle I did a full 180 turn and into a pole. Luckily i was slow enough the damage was minor but I could have easily went into the ditch. After that I always made sure the tires were in good condition on every car I had. |
Lol yeah don't play games with tires. I was lucky with mine and after that never again. I knew my tires needed replacing but I was delaying it due to the costs. Long story short I was driving on the highway and it desintagrated. Chunks of rubber flying off. I was super lucky my car didn't spin off. It just kept going straight and massive vibration. Pulled over and checked. Inside wall of the tire MIA. Never again. |
100 percent ok.. ive owned about 30 cars and replaced tires on all of them that tire is good to go... if you see a bubble than you should replace it and even than its super rare they explode |
Is anyone else impressed at how clean his tires are after 3000 KM? |
