How much to have front panel repainted on a Acura RDX? 4 Attachment(s) I am not sure how it happened but we have a scrape on the front bumper of our Acura RDX. Fortunately there is no damage to the actual body panel besides a hairline scratch that I don't think goes down to the metal. I am not too knowledgeable on body damage repair. Is it possible to just buff out the black markings from the front bumper and perhaps just paint only the bumper parts that don't match the paint after buffing or does the whole front bumper have to be removed and repainted? Any idea on the cost to have this fixed? Thanks for any help offered! |
looks like 90% if not all of the bumper scuffs would polish out also the black pieces can be popped out and trim black. Rubbing those pieces with some water and towel might clean them up good also. |
looks like some cleaning wax can get most of that off. |
Thanks for the input! Any recommendation for a specific product to use on this to hopefully to take off the black markings and wear marks? |
Doesn't look like it's a deep scratch, looks like mostly on your clearcoat. for a quick guide.. Look up "chris fix" on youtube.. check this one |
Don't worry, the bumpers are plastic and not metal and have a lot of flex. As said above try to see if the scuffs can be easily removed. Try a wax and grease remover. |
Yes, all those black scuffs will easily buff out. Even better that your car is silver. It'll hide any small minor scratches that can't be buffed out. |
Thanks again everyone for your advice! The video above from 3.2 vtec recommends just using WD-40 and a magic eraser. Does anyone else have any other specific car care products I should pickup from Canadian Tire or another auto supply store? |
For actual scratches that aren't too deep, i've had good results from using Quixx scratch remover. It comes with 2 tubes, one is a cut polish and one is a finishing polish. It works well but the secret is giving it a LOT of elbow grease. If you put some muscle into it while polishing, the results are pretty good. It's been years since I bought it at Canadian Tire and it seems like they no longer carry it so you may have to shop around a bit, or just order it online from Amazon. 3 Attachment(s) Thanks very much to everyone for their helpful advice! A special thank you to fellow REVscene member KDMofo who generously PM'd me and invited me to come out to the body shop he works at in Kitsilano to buff out and wax out the scuff marks and black paint for free! All I have to do now is buy some touch up paint for the one spot where the damage went down to the metal. There is a slight 2" scratch that was too deep that couldn't be removed but it is barely noticeable. KDMofo was super helpful and did a great job and refused any sort of payment that I offered This kind gesture by KDMofo is a great reflection of the helpfulness and support offered by many here on REVscene! |
