as someone who gets these fucking cars towed constantly. MAKE SURE YOU PARK THESE THINGS WHERE THEY BELONG. you leave one in my lot and you will get billed $120 for the tow and $50 by the car share company. i've towed 4 evo's and one car2go in the last 10 days...

the tow companies love it and the car share companies don't give 2 shits because they bill direct to the last person who used the car.

Fine, people do this too on cars they own for themselves, but not having to care so much about a car that you share with a community amplifies the bad behavior on the road especially when most services charge by the minute.
I think a good portion of the user base don't have cars or have maybe never owned one, similar to a lot of tenants renting places etc

No pride in ownership and can't respect the property.

One upside was someone forgot an umbrella in one I took and it was pissing out where we had to walk to the restaurant so that worked out lol

For a reference for people in terms of what it costs, I drove from Hastings/Renfrew to CRAFT at athletes village and it was like $6.50

What type of lot is yours?

It's stupid people get them towed when the restrictions make it relatively easy to find a proper spot :/

Car2go had a pilot project in Richmond last year. The drivers would leave the cars anywhere. I saw tickets on the cars all the time. Leaving it in alleys, pay zones, beside a yellow curb and no stopping zones. No wonder they are no longer there.

I've been using EVO and car2go over the past 2 years just based off their promo minutes. Nothing beats parking at PC and then heading out without worrying about parking costs.

lol, just as a PSA, grab all your shit before you exit the car.

My GF took a car2go home, got out of the car, and went to the trunk to grab her purse (with her cell phone in it), and the car locked by itself.

Thankfully she was right near her house so she went in and called customer service and they unlocked it remotely - they also said that there should be a 15-second-ish delay before the car unlocks, but that can go by very quickly.

So, to prevent ruining your night if you were on your way out somewhere, take all your shit before you close the doors.

But if you realized quickly that you forgot your shit, couldn't you just unlock the car by entering the numbers quickly in the app? Or am I missing something?

I think the problem isn't the doors locking quickly its just people being forgetful or oblivious which leads to them leaving phones, umbrellas, condoms, etc in the cars.

Why are condoms even in that list? Phones, umbrellas, I get it. You get in the car and toss it somewhere oftentimes. Do you carry a bag of condoms around and toss it in the car every time you drive?

Used Evo last night for the first time, pain in the ass finding parking for them compared to the car2go

Car2go's Nav showing you parkades in which you can park downtown is infinitely helpful

I've been using these services for the past year or two. Definitely great. Wife and I walk downtown (about 1-2 hrs), grab lunch then take a car home.

Also, in case anyone missed it, car2go will be replacing all their smartcars with Mercedes 250 CLAs and GLKs.

Note for gf, put the key back after getting the purse. putting the key back signals the car to think you're done with it.

Ya, takes some real fucked up people to have sex in a publicly shared car and leave a used condom in it.

I only tend to use them when planning to have a few drinks. Then cab home.

I find parking them DT is a huge pita.

For existing EVO members: use code FIFTEENRFZ for free 15 minutes of drive time!

Not sure when the expiry is, but this is from the YVR Food Fest

Edit: Expires August 1, 2017

I see a lot of these carshare cars being towed in the "no stopping between 3 and 6" zones. I guess people think somebody else will get it by then, or...

since my first post in this thread in feb about having these things towed, i've had to have 8 more towed including 2 tonight 1 evo and one of the new cla250 car2go's.

people need to understand the rules about using these fucking things. i don't care if you come in and buy something worth $2 or $200. you can't just abandon a car in a private lot for 10 hours hoping someone else will get in a drive it away.

^ lol those people are in for a treat

iirc they're on the hook for the tow, associated fees + administrative fees from the car share

I used to rent a parking spot downtown and a car2go parked itself in the single lane entrance and exit of the parking lot. No one could get in or out lol.
