Has anyone ever been to a sandals resort? We are looking for advice, tips and recommendations. Thanks

Friend of mine had his 5 year anniversary at Sandals Bahamas.

From what he told me, it sounded like a 5 star experience and had nothing bad to say about them. Except the price. If you can afford it, it doesn't really get much better.

went to sandals resort in Jamaica with the wife about 5 years ago and it was awesome would recommend again!

Buddy just came back from one of the Sandals in Mexico and absolutely loved it. Nothing but praise for the place.

apparently they are very good at handling food allergies, so that's why we are planning a trip to one. but man, they are EXPENSIVE lol

We went to Sandals in Jamaica for our honeymoon. It was pricey, but the experience is 5-stars, all the way. Once you're on the resort, you won't need any money. Everything is included. Service was fantastic! I drank so much rum and Red Stripe.

whats the price on one of these things.... everyone says "expensive"

We went to the Negril location, and stayed there for 7 nights. Including airfare, it was just under $5000. We went in 09/2011, and that was considered low-season, I think.

We were being quoted somewhere in the range of $4k USD per person for 7 nights.

The cost is dependent on which Sandals resort you are staying, your room selection, and the time of year, and the value of USD.

Going to the Negril location during low season saved a bunch of money. Negril is on the west side of the island. So, the downside is a 90 min bus ride from the airport and back again. We didn't mind the bus ride, it was a scenic, comfortable ride. Since it was low season, the resort was relatively empty. It's one of the smaller resorts. An ocean-facing ground floor suite meant we could step outside, and be on the shore in seconds. You'll never go thirsty, as the rooms are well-stocked with liquor and beer.

There's no tipping, and the service is excellent. Everyone is super friendly, and chill. Hearing that Jamaican accent is extremely calming. There's a wide array of dining choices from a snack shack that's open late to a fancy reservation-only Teppanyaki place. Jamaican patties at 3am through room service is pretty sweet, as well.

Of course, there's all the other stuff you can do like swimming, lounging on the beach, or discreetly smoking a j from the weed the bellhop hooked you up with.

Yes, summer is considered shoulder season and September is peak hurricane season as well. That's not a bad deal though. We ended up booking a cruise for late May with an outside balcony cabin. By the time we get back, after paying for insurance, drinks and excursions, we'll have spent the same easily. And that's after booking the return flight home with points.
