clear coat question for DIY painting So, I am just doing a small little painting project on my old rims i have, I used plastidip, and i used a dupicolor acrylic enamel coating aerosol can on top to try to achieve a smooth gloss finish, and when I run my finger nail along lightly, I can see it leaves a small trail behind. The wheels Have been dry for about 3 days now. It was only 1 layer that I applied. Do you guys know why its leaving scratch marks behind? is it the coating I am using? what can I use to leave a smooth surface as well as protect from scratches? |
Plastidip is super soft, even if you added a layer of paint of top it wont harden the plastidip. Maybe do a couple coats of clearcoat. |
Painting on top of Plastidip is not ideal. You can add more coats of clearcoat, but the end result won't be as good looking. I've used Plastidip color and PlastiDip Glossifier on my wheels to give it a glossy finish. |
