How far out of parking sign range can my vehicle be?
 

Is there an exception where a part of my car can be outside of the parking sign pole, on side street parking?

Some douchebag took up 1 and a half parking spot right in front of my face. Had to honk at him to move forward so I can park, and he barely moved. Looks at me from his side mirror with a douchebag look.

So I had to park with about 20% of my vehicle outside of the parking zone.

20% can get you a ticket. I got fuckered in my Miata once for my trunk being past the pole... A Miata trunk...

I'd say if it was the bumper, then it would be okay.

rear wheels/trunk, your pushing it. It's really up to the officer.

Depends on who seeing it and what's nearby, but rule of thumb if it's more than half the car length then yes it's a ticket able offense.

But remember that anything sticking out past the sign is still a ticket-able offense so if you follow what the person above said, you've been warned.

Oh, and I've also noticed parking enforcement officers now take a picture of your car too when they hand out tickets so even if you are an inch over, they will have grounds to give you a ticket and most likely will back it up with a picture.

Some guy in my neighbourhood got ticketed for parking too close to the pole. There was about a foot of space too! Some other guy got ticketed for being in one spot for too long, is this a law?

1) That sounds a little fishy, you shouldn't get a ticket for being parked within the sign, If you park beyond the sign then yes. Provide pic of parking spot or location so we can decipher.

2) In Bby you can only park in a residential neighbourhood for a maximum period of time, I think its 2 hours. I work near BCIT and residents always call the city to ticket cars who are trying to park for free to go to BCIT or the business park in the area.. So if thats the case then yes they can and will ticket you.
