Any shop specializing in lights? I impulse bought some LEDs that replace the ones in my headlights. Installation includes removing bumper and heating headlights in an oven to open them up. Don't really have the time and more importantly the skill/knowledge to do this. Are there any shops that could do this that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg? |
inb4 private modder jokes. Skill/Knowledge to open headlights is minimal. Just preheat your oven, and turn off the element, then load them in for a short period, and take them out and break em apart. To put them back together without leaks is the key, and most times its people who don't use new butyl sealant that get leaks, they try to reuse the old adhesive. Dont do that, buy new butyl, and you should be good. |

I think rpm electronics still does retro fits. What are you trying to put into your headlights and what car is it? |
Per email last year from George @ RPM Electronics, they don't do retrofits of HID Projectors into a Reflector Housing, if that's relevent to your situation |
Wait. Your Mustang has factory HID's that are far, far better than anything an aftermarket bulb could provide. Leave them alone imo. |
unless something has changed in the past year, factory HID are far superior than aftermarket LED |

i got these and a similar thing for the fogs which are a dull halogen color https://www.diodedynamics.com/store/...l-led-modules/ Car is 2015 mustang GT. They replace the "gills" which don't provide too much light, they're mostly just the DRL. Won't be touching the headlight part of the..headlight. |
Hey, you want to call us and talk to Jimmy. He is our new custom lighting tech after George left last year. He has done this exact kit on a GT350 just recently. https://photos-3.dropbox.com/t/2/AAB...36&size_mode=3 |
Those headlights aren't butyl. They use a glue called permaseal. I wouldn't attempt opening those since they're a PITA and you'll probably end up destroying your headlight lens in the process. |
Has anyone done this themselves with permaseal? Thanks for the referral, calling them now btw. |
