September Stereos
 

This time of year offers different options for stereos. Some products are coming to an end to their lives, while others are being introduced but not offered as available until the new year.

Forecasting the balance between having too many and not enough is one of my jobs. Since you are my demographic, I would like to ask for your help.

Do I bring in more:

navigation decks;

video decks;

video decks with CarPlay;

video decks with Android Auto;

Bluetooth decks with cd;

Bluetooth decks without cd?

Carplay is a huge important new feature. Decks with DVD are still important for all the people with kids. Bluetooth is a must have nowadays. The only thing I would upgrade to would be a deck with Carplay or phone mirror imaging. My DDX771 doesn't have HDMI input so I can't mirror. An oversight on purchase.

Hey Berz, have you played with the HDMI option on another deck? The reason that CarPlay and Android Auto are so popular is because Mirroring kinda sucks. The dongle that is required has a very short cable to plug into your phone and it requires two cables into it, so it's kinda like an umbilical cord attached to your phone. On top of that, the graphics that are produced are horrible compared to CP or AA.
Overlooking this kind of integration is unfortunate. I can trade you into an upgrade if you'd like.

Actually I did buy that damn adapter only to discover once pulling my deck out that I didn't have the HDMI input. /facepalm

I've tried it on my TV though and you are correct it is quite shitty with graphics and that attachment sucks to use.

Once I'm ready for an upgrade I'll be sure to let you know. Maybe I'll upgrade the wifes ride and get a new one for myself lol
