They don't care about us peasants as most of us could barely afford admission, let alone view a possible future car for purchase. Maybe they do that to keep the riff raff out.

That's a very good point about the specific demographic of people this show is held for, but I would also like to think that true gearheads also show up for the cars, but I'm proven wrong pretty much every year. It's not even about not being able to "afford" the $75 or $180 or whatever you have to pay to go with wife/gf, but it's the promises that are made by the organizers prior to the show and doing a shitty job delivering. FMOV is missing? why? Porsche shows up with two used cars, something is not right. Don't call this shit concourse.
MM Design has probably the strongest presence with a bunch of tacky half-ass wrapped cars with vinyl peeling off the side mirrors, concourse grade bro? OK cool.
That's what I am referring to the show not worth 75 or whatever they charge for VIP+service fee and tax..

Only been to the show once a few years back care of a friend/photographer who sorted entry with VIP access. It definitely felt like there was an air of arrogance. You could tell people were there dressed to kill and socializing for the sake of being seen rather than to check out the cars.

Then again, the same organizer does the Diamond Rally if I'm not mistaken; so it should come as no surprise.

Didn't see the show, but got to see the McLaren people driving down Granville on Saturday morning. Seeing (and hearing) the Huayra on the road was quite a treat

Definitely disappointing compared to last year. At least last year the holy trinity showed up + a Chiron. Something is definitely going on seeing FMOV didnt show up, neither did SR. Its not good when Volvo and Lexus have two of the biggest presences at a "Supercar" event

Pretty sure SR's showroom right now has more special cars than the event yesterday. Only real "star" was the Huayra and maybe the new Phantom.

I'll be honest, I've never been to this show as I can't be bothered to pay money to see new vehicles off the showroom floor.

That video clip of that blue car (honestly I dont know what it is) kind of got me excited though.

Is this the first time the show has been opened to classic vehicles? From the pictures the older vehicles look to be very well done.

Was it actually advertised as a concourse show? I guess it's true when everything is brand new. Haha. Anyhow. Thanks for the pictures, maybe I can name some of the cars roaming the streets now lol. The way people are dressed is enough to keep me away. At a car show. I'm rolling around on the floor, trying to see what the underside of the vehicle looks like.

LSW keeps jacking up the admission prices, yet the show lacks something compared to previous year. Is this really worth $75? no. Maybe $40
The classic section was also missing Mercs, BMWs and many other models.
The only interesting booth IMO was McLaren; rest of the cars could be seen in a Downtown outing on a daily basis.

I emailed about putting my exceptionally clean E38 there. No reply.

Then I see fucking VW Kombis. Really? LOL

I went for a few yrs cuz friend has free VIP access. The super cars I can see most of them at the dealerships, except for the Pagani. Food is finger food nothing special. I looked at the price for VIP (which includes food) and think what a rip off. Different type of crowd than other car shows for sure.

twitchyzero 09-16-2017 10:16 AM

how does one get a media pass?
will my ig with only 500 followers suffice? :troll:

320icar 09-16-2017 02:12 PM

what they should do is have the super car area and luxury (obviously) but then cater to something more unique to draw in a better crowd. like one year they should do a "generations" exhibit. get one m3 from the e30 all the way to the f whatever is new. or get an old school evo V to a new evo X, or same for an STI or civic type R's or whatever. just limit it to one car of each generation, that way you dont water down the show and have just the most concourse collector version there. you could easily do the same with an f40, f50, enzo, f12 etc etc since we have them in vancouver. hell even do a porsche version (but keep that shit organized, thats a whole event in itself).

ive never gone myself as my planning always falls through and i end up working. last year sounded amazing but this year the vibe was just way more mehhh

DGN23 09-16-2017 09:33 PM

I've gone every year. The show reached its peak years ago. The above suggestion is good. They should get rid of that MM design shit and use the space for that idea.

has anyone managed to go to a concours in europe or pebble beach?
is the vancouver one that far off?

My guess is that Saucy went to Pebble Beach before. She'll have to confirm that though.

I went to Pebble and Quail in 2015. The Quail parking lot alone was 8 times better than any car show out there.
Yes Vancouver is very far; putting lame and generic "modified" cars on the lawn doesn't help either.

european 09-19-2017 11:59 AM

Made a little video.

I need to work on my video skills

Cheers!
