disc brake caliper change

question about brake change. So my rear passenger disc brake has been recently squealing so loud it sounded like metal on metal but my pads are still very new after I took the brakes and caliper apart.

The problem I believe was that the lower caliper sliding pin was completely rusted stuck. It took me 4-6 hours using wrenches, and finally a torch to loosen it and yank it out. There was absolutely no grease inside for it, and during this process of removal, I ripped the rubber boot that covers the slider pin into the hole. Is it okay to use without the boot for now? I am planning to replace the calipers but not sure how difficult it is. This is my first time working on my own rear brakes.

Any advice what to look out for? Anyone know where I can purchase new shimmies or whatever theyre called that holds the pads in place? I think that may be causing the squealing even after putting the brakes back together because they are dirty and seem to hold the pads in place even after applying grease to the slider pins and pads.

thanks!

If you run without the boots then you are just going to get water & crap in there and it will rust & seize once again. Caliper rebuild kits should come with new slider boots. Rebuild kits & shims are available everywhere, Dealer, Lordco/Napa, Rockauto.

If squealing is your issue, could be many variables.
To name a few -
aftermarket pads ? brakes not serviced ?

.....brake pads installed backwards? considering it's your first time, plausible
bent brake backing plate rubbing on rotor?
bent bracket shim rubbing on rotor?
and yes, running without the boot will cause the slider pin to seize up real quick

sometimes if you don't properly torque down the caliper bolts it squeals as well.
