Can I ship beer to AB? Random question: I have a case of beer I bought in BC. I want to send it to a client in Alberta. Can I do that? Through UPS or Canada Post? I know Canada has weird rules about shipping alcohol. I know I can phone the shipping companies to ask but sometimes it's easier to ask here 4Head |
Never mind, started doing my own research: Canada Post won't do it unless you are a contract customer and fall into one of the following categories: Quote:
UPS lady didn't know. She had to ask her supervisor. I'm on hold as we speak. |
It's better to ask for forgiveness then permission. Throw that shit in a box and mark it Motor Oil. |
Ship it Greyhound packed well and no one will notice. |
UPS lady was totally useless. Told me to call another 1-800 number. I googled the number and it's for their Dangerous Goods support centre  |
Just put it in a box and mail it. No one will notice. If it was me I would just drink it and save the shipping costs. |
Sounds like nobody will do it. How dumb is that? #canada I agree, we'll have to bubble wrap the heck out of it and hope for the best. |
Oh and btw it's a special case of beer not available for purchase in AB, hence the need to ship it vs having it bought and delivered locally. |
just ship it, since it's not crossing a border it won't go through an x-ray. Just mark the box fragile goods. |

Provincial LDB's are fucking Nazi's over shipping alcohol over borders. You can try, or it just gets confiscated. There's active fights to abolish the laws because the rules date back to the 1800's. |
Change is bad, mmm'kay? |

A buddy used to ship me beer from Ontario all the time. Buy beer, pack carefully, ship. Within Canada you aren't required to label what the contents are. Everytime he shipped the beer, it arrived unharmed. ...which reminds me, I should get him to ship me some UrBock. |
people ship craft beer all the time.....no worries...you're not fucking putting glock parts in it. |
There’s a guy fighting this law in Supreme Court right now saying it’s not constitutional to restrict beverage purchases between provinces. It’s a big deal... especially for BC wine industry and... drumroll... future cannabis sales |

I have a feeling this guy will win -- initially he has already won the first round in a lower court. It's just that the pos NB gov is a sore loser -- and they probably want/need to keep the alcohol tax revenues within the province -- so they are disputing the lower court's decision. But yes, basically all the wineries have their ears perked on this one. It'll be a BIG game changer for the industry if the cross (provincial) border laws get struck down. |
Canada your fine |

You're not allowed to do it. But I used to send these bad boys to my grandfather when I lived in Quebec. He lived in Burnaby. http://farm8.static.flickr.com/7418/...d7793367bf.jpg Also, https://cognacs.files.wordpress.com/...s-xo-beer2.jpg Drinking XO makes you feel like a fancy troglodyte. |
Update: Shipped the beer by Canada Post. Arrived safe and sound. Happy client. |
