k-12 for the most part was a disaster in terms of preparing you for college, so forget real world

the 5 years of public school in English class, I may be learned one year's worth. My piece of shit grade 11 teacher would try to put on movies few too many times.

from interacting with the kids today at my office, it sounds like it has only gotten worse

and most of my students at ubc have never failed in life before, so when I tell them to re-do something often they fall apart...news flash, you're not going to learn if you never make mistakes

Here's another news article about Tim Hortons.

Employees banned from accepting tips.

Not sure if this is a repost.

4 or 5 years ago, when I worked at Cineplex, we were not allowed to accept tips. In fact, when customers offered, we told them, "No, we can't accept tips". And any tip that was still given went into the till. But then we'd still be on the hook at the end of the night when the cash in till doesn't match the settlement report.

McDonald only gave u free meal is only for stocking and manager lol

I remember way back when our army was in Afghanistan, they had a tims open up In base and I heard everyone was given a free tims card with no credit in inside lol

All this minimum wage talk. In high school you need work experience so I got a job at home outfitters doing receiving/stocking on weekends. During the summer I stayed and worked making the amazing “training wage” of 6.50/hr. I found out the other guy I work with who did the same job was making about 20/hr. I asked management to give me a raise to minimum (which was I think 8.15/hr at the time) and she just said “Uhm... nahhh I don’t think so”. So I put in my two weeks. It was a bit insulting since they didn’t give me ANY training, and I think 500 hours of $6.50 is insane

The only one I ever go to now is the one at burrard station underneath cookies by george, I still get my cheese croissant and steeped tea. I've always thought Timmy's food was shit and the only thing I ever gave a pass to was the Chili.

Next thing you know, roll up the rim won't be there anymore. Seems like the prizes are getting shittier and less frequent. I remember when I got free coffee for like 2 weeks on my morning commute thanks to all the free coffee wins.

now it's like 1/20 is a free coffee or donut. :okay:

Y2K_o__o 01-09-2018 02:23 PM

I used to go to Tim Horton about once/twice a month in the past, and now I've switched to McCafe and subway instead. I went there because I don't have a choice in my area. There are a two things that I found across all TH and they never address these issues at all:

1) Selections availability - Not all soup, potatoe wedge, dipping sauce selection are available. Especially during the midnight hour, potato wedges are not available at most TH, but why can McDonald offer french fries at any time?

2) long wait time - They have the same person running the till, picking donuts, preparing drinks. It's just taking alot longer time to get the job done

The only time I went to a Tim Horton's was to collect those hockey cards. LOL. I think the last time around I went once and said to myself.......... why????

nah 01-12-2018 09:31 PM

the most annoying thing is the fucking cup sleeves, they're so cheap they force you to ask for one every fucking single time...

a few seconds of your time saved some paper from the landfill, seems like a decent trade-off

So keep the one from your last cup and reuse it?

welfare 01-13-2018 09:25 PM

Or just ask for one?

320icar 02-26-2018 04:52 AM

Ok so it’s just frustrating. Get called in early for work, head out and walk by a Timmy’s on the way. As for a toasted bagel and get a stone cold bagel. the simplest of tasks such as toasting a bagel can’t even be done right.

Fuck me for forgetting to ask for double toasted so it even resembles something warm

Lomac 02-26-2018 05:45 PM

Yeah, I've stopped even trying to go to Tim Hortons for anything more than a coffee. And even that I've switched over to 7/11. Not that it's any better but I've got one of their travel mugs and it's 50 cents to fill it. So why the hell not.

MG1 02-26-2018 06:25 PM

^I hope you have the App. It's free San Pellegrino Sparkling tea on the 28th.

You went to tim hortons, thats your bad.
10 years of serving absolute garbage and you haven't learned yet?

Mr.Money 02-26-2018 10:00 PM

ordered a cream long john...

FFS it tasted like a marshmallow melted inside a donut, they don't even use milk cream anymore.

donjalapeno 02-26-2018 10:09 PM

I miss the lasagna and the old hash browns. Tims is garbage now.

Oh and oddly enough i liked the turkey sausage better than the pork one they have now.

It's almost sad what they have turned into.
Every once in a while I give them another try, just to be let down. I got a couple Timmie's cards for Xmas and ended up regifting them. It was the best course of action.

RIP Timmies
:okay:

Makes you wonder WTF this Restaurant Brands International (Timmy's owner) is thinking...

Tim Hortons, franchisees spat over $700M plan to reno most Canadian locations - NEWS 1130

As business executives, you'd think they'd at least go look into the real reasons of why their chains suck. This open concept seating stuff is nice and all, but it isn't the real reason why Timmy's suck now.

(They should really read up on our thread here a little... EleGiggle )

Jmac 03-27-2018 05:58 PM

RBI is owned by a hedge fund company (3G Capital) and they've returned significant gains for their shareholders since the merger. Unfortunately, I think they overestimated how attached Canadians were to the brand. Between the bad publicity generated by a few of the franchisees and the rapid decline in quality since the merger (and slow decline prior to that), it's not difficult to understand why Canadians taking their business elsewhere.

It has little to do with the interior of the restaurants.

originalhypa 05-17-2018 10:33 AM

Timmie's new shitty donut.

It’s so sticky...............

Bouncing Bettys 05-17-2018 01:14 PM

Imagine the money Tim's could make if they could somehow adapt the bonding agent from their shitty icing and wrapper and apply it to other industries. No more dangerous welding of structural steel, just apply icing and wrapper.
