Non-traffic tickets
Effective May 1, 2017 the Alberta government has changed the enforcement of minor non-traffic tickets to ensure that those who don’t pay them on time are:

still held accountable
no longer arrested and jailed
Tickets issued on or after May 1
If you don’t pay a non-traffic ticket issued on or after May 1, 2017 by its due date, you’ll be charged a late fee. The fine and late fee can be worked off under the Fine Option Program.

You must fully pay or work off an overdue non-traffic ticket before a registry agent will provide you with vehicle registration services. If you pay this ticket online, you can get these services from a registry agent later that day by showing them your payment receipt.

Tickets issued before May 1
If you don’t pay or work off a non-traffic ticket issued before May 1, 2017 by its due date, a warrant may be issued for your arrest.

You must fully pay an overdue non-traffic ticket before a warrant for your arrest will be removed. You can pay this ticket online or at a courthouse.

After you pay the ticket, keep the receipt with you for at least 3 days to prove you made a payment. It can take up to 72 hours for law enforcement to receive a notice of your payment.

So i'm assuming I wont get a warrant anymore if i dont pay my ticket that I got a couple month back during a banff trip? got pulled over doing 127 on a 90km/h 3 lane highway that was pretty much empty. Cop was hiding in front of a semi on a shoulder.

On a side note: i wonder why the speed limit is so only 90 there considering the lack of cars and flat road even during rush hour. No traffic compared to some of Vancouver's 110/120 areas.
