Honda right now = :lawl: :troll:

Speed2K 03-07-2018 03:10 PM

Lol, still only testing right now. Can't wait for the opener! :)

snowball 03-07-2018 09:56 PM

As much as I would love Toro Rosso to beat McLaren, pretty sure McLaren will be fighting for top 5s once they get the initial testing done and Toro Rosso will be hovering around the fringes of top 10.

GET. HYPE.

Liberty Media is so good at giving us good content.

Speed2K 04-07-2018 05:52 PM

Very surprised at the Qualifying results! Especially for Toro Rosso, hopefully they will be good on the race pace.

Haha Honda lovers unite... engine please hold up for the actual race. It's been a tough 3 years and I would love for them to finish ahead of McLaren.

Speed2K 04-08-2018 08:48 AM

Too bad for Kimi & RBR. Awesome race for Gasly, well done! The TR garage is going nuts!

slicrick 04-08-2018 05:22 PM

Suspenseful finish to end the race, nice result for Vettel in his 200th race definitely had to earn it. I'm also on the Toro Rosso bandwagon since they're Honda powered

In slightly related F1 news, Jenson Button took second in his first Super GT race with Honda! Watching the livestream replay of the race, it's super tight racing, and there's quite a few former F1 driver's involved.

LOL Max. What a dickhead

bomberR17 04-15-2018 12:19 AM

Max always being too aggressive. Could've had a double red bull podium, but fantastic drive by Ricciardo! This was a great race!

snowball 04-15-2018 01:46 AM

Back to reality for STR :(

F1 races are best when there's some safety car drama, they should almost switch to ultra tires+ only and force teams to make 4-5 stops a race for some added dramatic effect.

What a crazy race! Ferrari have impressive pace this season as do Red Bull. For the first time in a while I think it’s a three horse race. Kind of early to call it but from what I’ve seen so far I don’t think Mercedes will be walking away with it easy this season, Ferrari have proven they have the pace if they can just get their race strategy sorted and RB just need Max to calm down and time his overtakes. One of the commentators said it best, it’s like Max is playing poker and going all in on every hand.

DavidNguyen 04-15-2018 04:46 AM

Watching the China race right now. Haven't watched formula 1 for at least five years. The halo on the car looks kind of cool!

Super GT really wants to get people into the series. Full onboard of Jenks at round 1. Since SGT GT500 unified rules with DTM, the cars are running 4-cylinder turbo engines. Honda's version sounds more like a formula car than the ones from Nissan and Lexus.

anti-vip 04-25-2018 09:56 PM

thats crazy. never seen a race like this before. so many cars. where can you find the specs of these cars?

twitchyzero 04-25-2018 11:24 PM

Long story short GT500 is essentially DTM specifications, and GT300 is mostly FIA GT3 and some cars built to specifically run in that class.

anti-vip 04-29-2018 01:34 PM

Man crazy race in Baku. Didn't get the chance to watch the whole race only the highlights. Knew it gonna be carnage considering how tight the track is. Damn redbull. was rooting for ricciardo

Speed2K 04-29-2018 02:32 PM

Great race!

european 04-29-2018 03:08 PM

That was one hell of a race. Wow.

Change to aerodynamic rules for next year, hopefully it helps with more overtaking (this year has been pretty good though):

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...cing/34431881/

Quote:

PARIS (AP) — Motorsport's governing body has approved rule changes designed to increase overtaking and promote closer racing in Formula One as part of an ongoing initiative to win back fans.

From next year, F1 aerodynamics will be simplified. Cars will have a front wing with a larger span, simplified brake ducts, and a wider rear wing.

FIA said the changes approved at its World Motor Sport Council meeting on Monday followed "an intense period of research" which led to a majority electronic vote from the F1 teams.

The front wings will also have a low outwash potential. This means less air from the front wing will be generated around the outside of the tires, which in turn will less hinder the downforce and grip of the car behind trying to overtake.

The proposals also have the backing of F1 owner Liberty Media and have been ratified for 2019, the FIA said in a statement on Tuesday.

The approved changes are separate to the ongoing work being undertaken in regard to defining F1 regulations for 2021 and beyond, when the current set of rules, known as the Concorde Agreement, expire.

The biggest change in 2021 will center on engines, budget caps and wealth distribution, in order to create a more level playing field. In the future, F1 wants cheaper, louder, more powerful engines — but also wants them more reliable to reduce the amount of grid penalties. The new engines, or power units, must also be accessible to any new teams — such as Aston Martin — planning to enter the series.

But F1 has been fast-tracking some changes that did not need to wait until 2021.

Recently, measures were approved for an increase in race fuel allowance in order to allow drivers to race at full power for longer, and the separation of driver weight from car weight to end the disadvantage of heavier drivers.

Wow, what a race the last few laps between the Ferrari's and the Mercedes. Finally some excitement at the top of the field.
