Multiple Comprehensive claims question

Did a search online and the ICBC website wasn't too clear.

Around 8 months ago, a truck passed me on the highway spraying gravel everywhere, and chipped my windshield and hood. Claimed it under comprehensive.

This evening, I noticed what appears to be a door dent in the rear fender of my car. Pretty deep, and right on the crease. I doubt a PDR will fix it.

Will claiming the dent affect my comprehensive deductible? Should I just suck it up and pay for the repair/rear quarter repaint?

Thanks all.

You would have to claim the dent under a new claim number, and if anything, it might be a collision claim. Get a quote for the repair and see if it's worth eating the out of pocket cost over a premium increase.

If it does get claimed, and can’t find who did it, you will forced to pay the deductible. I would probably call dial a claim to ask if the dent is considered comprehensive or collision (hit and run)?

PDR can be done on creases.

There is always a deductible you'll have to pay, that's just how insurance works (unless you found the liable party).

Like what Edison said, you can call dial a claim first and ask if it'll be covered under comp or H&R. Once a claim has been created, you'll either bring it to an ICBC express valet shop or Claim Centre for assessment. The estimator will review and determine if the damage is consistent with either a comp or H&R claim. Both types of claim will not affect your insurance.

However, if the estimator reviews the damage and, under the suspicion, believes the damage is not consistent with the type of loss, then ICBC CAN still cover it as a collision claim but there will be an impact on your insurance. At this point, you can go and see how much it will cost to fix out of pocket. As long as you don't pay your deductible, your insurance won't be covering for the repair (no impact on your insurance).

hope this helps?
