So Translink was probably happy to hand things over to the province. 4 lanes, but divided, wider, and safer will most likely do it. Hopefully the roads around it are not going to cause congestion. Once on a four lane bridge, everything should move smoothly as long as the on and off ramps are designed properly. More lanes isn't always the answer. I hope they took potential ice bombs out of the equation. What do the First Nations think of this........ are we going to have to suck some ass? Maybe a blessing ceremony or two............ dozen. I can see it now.......... some indian band will claim it is going to be built on sacred burial grounds and everything gets put on hold. |
The expansion to 6 lanes will probably never happen despite the available option so 4 lanes is what we get and that will be the max for the next 50 years. If any sitting government tries to get the 2 lanes added at some point in the future, New West will cry about it until we are old and grey, lawsuits will delay any upgrade attempts like every other infrastructure project in BC. Just the usual BS. |

people dont use it currently because the bridge is sketchy and there is a lack of facilities connecting the bridge to it. |
it's a trap to go green. tax on gas will go up after it's built to pay for it, but congestion will be the same. people will be forced to carpool and use the fcking bike lane |

ffs.... instead of this project, BC should invest into more lanes for liongates. such a shit fest there |
does every bridge these days take a billion or two and half a decade to complete? |
I've said it once and I'll say it again. Our city council throughout the GVRD are full of complete shit. They want us to carpool more, they want us to use transit, or bike, and they want to implement a mobility tax. Yet one of the easiest solutions to ease congestion and encourage ride sharing, simply allow Uber, Lyft to come to this city and begin operating TODAY. But of course not, our city is too damn corrupt, it's an embarrassment with the traffic issues this city has, we're one of the last cities in North America to not allow such ride sharing. It is mind boggling to me the amount of shit we accept as citizens here. |

When I'm on the Alex Fraser, people are FLYING over that bridge. I feel safer on the patullo versus the alex fraser. So i'm not sure that widening the lanes are actually safer. |

With Alex Fraser, yes, people are flying over that bridge, and the merging part could get a bit scary, but at least you don't have to stay on your toes when you are driving straight within your own lane. You have to do that on the Pattullo. |
