2 rear side windows, 2 rear quarter windows, and 1 big rear windshield.

+1 to Nixon @ Street Legal on Marine.
To date he's done 4 of my own cars + countless family and friends.
I haven't seen him in about two years though.

He's a legit car enthusiast. He owned/owns a MB R350 because it was different. Rad guy.

then can you tint me some windows?

dark0821 05-23-2022 02:35 PM

^ to add to Nixon's capabilities, the shop I work for (Fastsigns) uses him regularly when we need commercial spaces tinted/frosted. Full coverage or cut-out with a pattern/logo, his team is capable and dependable.

He helped out a few times when we were in a pinch with an unrealistic timeline, and he still made it work which is unheard of in our industry.

Anyone have Larry Lee's number?

headhunt3r 06-17-2022 04:07 PM

How aggressive have cops been on front tint lately on otherwise stock cars that are not VI magnets?

68style 06-17-2022 08:08 PM

I drive a fairly non-descript and stock IS300 but I’ve driven all over the lower mainland for 7+ years and 100,000kms worth of driving with 35% fronts and never been hassled. It’s a light tint but still noticeable.

Simplex123 06-17-2022 09:42 PM

another +1 to Nixon, he did a great job on my 2 rear windows + hatch windshield with 18% recently
Did wish it was a little bit darker but he doesn't carry 15%

I went with 35% on his recommendations but after a few years, I wish I went darker

Am I being too picky? Or is this tint job worth going back for? The rear tint has debris which causes these small bubbles. Other windows all have one or two which isn't perfect but I don't want to be a super picky customer... I got it done at a place that was recommended by this thread. I'll hold the name for now.

did you leave it out in the sun for a while? i recall that you had to leave the car out in the sun to "bake" and it'll get rid of these tiny air bubbles.

Id say give it a week, and if it still no good, then go back.

I would definitely go back, personally

trollface 08-29-2022 09:28 AM

Bubble may come out after a few days.

headhunt3r 08-29-2022 09:35 AM

It's been a month since install. They don't seem like air bubbles, more like dust trapped underneath. How many would you all live with? Some windows have one or two, and the rear has the most as per photo.

TOS'd 08-29-2022 09:38 AM

Photos not loading for me, but does this place have any warranty? Iirc most did and you can say you gave it a month to fix itself and it didnt.

bcrdukes 08-29-2022 10:09 AM

I don't have an opinion on this, but let's say that the installer removes the current tint and adds in new one. Would this possibly damage your rear defroster?

Yes, there was warranty with this. I'm generally "detail oriented" about my things and am aware that this can make me a difficult customer, which is why I'm asking the collective here. :)

Does this link work for you?

68style 08-29-2022 10:53 AM

I couldn't see the picture before your link either... but seeing it now, I don't think that's acceptable.

JDMDreams 08-29-2022 10:53 AM

Pic doesn't work, but I got a model 3 tinted for $600, turned out pretty much perfect. Front sides, rear sides, rear c pillar windows plus the giant roof rear window. The guy told me to wait 2 weeks before opening Windows.

68style 08-29-2022 11:46 AM

2 weeks is crazy, I think he meant 2 days lol

Badhobz 08-29-2022 12:28 PM

if it was done by any of the shops mentioned in this thread, im sure they'll redo whatever youre not happy with. 100% of that.

extracrunchie 01-07-2023 05:11 PM

Booked a time with Larry, guess he still does it......but he must be hella old now

trollface 01-07-2023 05:27 PM

I think Larry was born around the industrial revolution
