Do I need the ICBC papers to renew/get a license plate?

I have a car in storage that I want to get it up and running again. The storage is a big away from my home and i left all the storage paperwork and registration paper in my car.... I'm looking to save myself an addition trip back and forth from the storage to the broker...

I do have a photo of the registration paper with the VIN and registration number, is that enough for me to go to an ICBC broker to get a license plate and renew my insurance on the car?

I think that's enough. And with autoplan brokers being pretty much everywhere, all it takes is for you to walk in somewhere and ask. If it doesn't work out, at most you've only wasted 10 min?

Not sure if they can do it just with a photo of the registration papers. That said, strictly speaking you don't have to go get them out of the car. They can reprint copies for you in their office. If you're changing from storage to road insurance, they *might* waive the reprint fee. It's happened once before for me.

Uhhhh...why not just go to a broker near your storage?

It's $5 if you don't have your insurance papers with you

My experience has always been mixed, the people that know me don't have an issue as I am a regular for taking short term policies than keeping cars insured. Some new guys always tell me they want to charge me 30~ bucks or something ridiculous if I don't have it.

You should keep it at home and not in the vehicle for security reasons. It's much easier to just bring it along with you.

x2 on going to your regular broker. New guy wanted to charge me $18 reprinting my papers when my car got stolen (even though i think it would've been reimbursed anyway, but more hassle). Our regular guy looked into it and just re-printed for us, saved us a lot of hassle. If you go to your regular guy he'll probably understand.

is that the reprint charge or a lookup charge?

just went to a broker. He said it was $5 for a look up fee but waived it cause even he said "its a silly fee"

So to answer my own question. Don't need the ICBC docs to go to a broker to renew my insurance or get a new plate, but might be subject to a $5 dollar look up fee from the broker.
