Sea of Thieves
 

Anyone playing this? I got the 2 week Game Pass trial to check it out for free

Played about 2 hours.. I like the open ended non hand-holdy feel. I like how random pirates seem dangerous, and you can lose your treasure any time

My experience so far though

-Dug up 2 treasures, sold 2 chests, 1 of them completed a quest

-Didn't get any gold for the chests. Didn't seem to get any rep for the quest

-When I went back to my ship, a group were hitting it with cannons.. Couldn't do anything about it so I logged off

I think this might be fun with a solid group, but that's probably about it

Edit: Logged back in and I received the credit for the chests and quest

have my eyes on this but still busy playing Final Fantasy that came out on PC few weeks ago

The Way Out is definitely next on my list...haven't been this stoked for a co-op since Left4Dead

Sea of Thieves I'll eventually get on XBOX me thinks...because on PC it's Microsoft Store exclusive

I've seen a lot of streams on Sea of Thieves. From what I can see, the game seems better in an organized group rather than single. Duo seems OK also, but as soon as you're up against a large ship, you can only run. There is no way of a fair fight.

Yeah I got ganked by a duo as well... I actually did really well, killed one and sunk their ship. When they respawned they came back and killed me

I think the way the respawn system works is what fucks it up, but I'll have to play some more to be sure

This game just sucks

Will try Gears of War while I still have the trial, then I'll unsub from that too

looked like it had promise but i'd probably buy for the switch if anything and dont know how it would be

are the "other" pirates actual other players? or NPC's?

All real players. The only other enemies are lame skeletons and random snakes that stand there, or sharks that swim around you in circles while you stab them to death

It really plays like an alpha or an early beta of a game that shows a lot of promise. But there's nothing to it, so people just spend their time camping whatever solo players they come across. But there's no death penalty or anything, so you just respawn over and over killing each other with EXTREMELY unfun PVP combat.

It is a hollow shell of what might have been a cool game

So it's basically a run-and-gun FPS but with ships instead? I tried skimming some gameplay videos but it looked pretty boring, maybe I'm missing something but it was just run around an island a bit for no real reason, hop back on the ship, attack people or get attacked for no reason, repeat?
