My wife has a Matrix XR, even as an auto it's a lot of fun and it's stupidly practical. The 2ZZ has higher peak power but the 1ZZ makes more low down, you really can't go wrong with either option. Even if the engine or trans blows up replacements are everywhere and they're cheap as hell since Toyota made loads of them and they never die so nobody has a need for them. If they would've offered the AWD with a manual I'd probably buy a second one for me.

5.0 Mustang fun car, Corolla daily. Street parking. Sadly, it's come to the realization that the way the city is going, it's getting more and more difficult to do this. They're constantly making it a bigger pain to drive.
Condos barely have any parking, so for myself to have 2 cars and my girlfriend her truck, it's hard to find a condo to accommodate that.
But I can't bring myself to downsize to one car because the Mustang would suck to drive daily and I don't think I'd be happy in a WRX or something better yearround.

I've tried to go with only one vehicle, and it just doesn't work for me. The truth is, we're still car guys. We still need the rush of driving something with power and torque. But we also understand that work won't put up with your tuner car breaking down on the highway anymore. Nor do clients want to climb over and around a cage when you take them out for lunch

Had three vehicles for the last 10 years. Luckily I have a house/driveway big enough for all 3.

I don't look at the Mustang as a car, it's my toy. It's not feasible for any kind of practical use, so I don't really count it as a "vehicle" in the same way as our other two cars.

Kinda feeling bad for the Speed 3 the last few months, now that I mostly walk to work it sits a lot. I drove it once, about 20km since last Tuesday. I haven't even cracked 100,000kms on the odo yet.

My wife daily drives the Sonoma, she also drives the kid around. We're making it work with one of us often in the jumpseat, good thing driving distances in Victoria are super short.
Wife knows how to drive standard but is out of practice, doesn't really like driving my car. Last time she took it out she let some smoke out of the clutch accidentally starting off in 3rd gear.

I get a vehicle allowance through work, so I have no choice but to keep at least two usable vehicles.

I'll have to make some decisions about upgrades soon. Want to buy a bigger truck, but can't decide if I want to sell the Speed 3 or the Sonoma.

I've had it about 5 years, bought it from my uncle who was the first owner so it's been kept in relatively good shape but it has it's 21 year old warts (AC doesn't work, Little bit of peeling paint, some cracking in the shitty interior plastics they used in those days) no rust through and mechanically it's a rock. Sounds not bad for a V6 either with edelbrock header system and Borla exhaust

It's been used as a truck, lots of towing, hauling wood, dirt, gravel you name it.

Better overall truck than 5 year newer the 3.0L 2WD Ranger Edge we had before it.

Want to import a car and just use it on weekends with temps, store with storage insurance rest of time - what's my best option with storage? any places in Vancouver will let you store car w/o plates?

No plates needed for storage insurance. Just has to be parked on private property.

Depending on how often you want to take the car out, you might be better off just insuring the car outright. When I worked out the math a few years ago (when rates were lower), each day permit roughly worked out to be the equivalent of 10 - 15 days' worth of regular insurance. So if I want to take the car out more than a couple of times within a given period, I might as well just insurance it.

Look into it first, and then decide whether it is worthwhile.

^ this. From what I understand/recall, the temporary operating permit rates are the same for most cars (don't know if it's different for exotics, etc.).

So say if your annual insurance rate is pretty low already, the temporary permit costs add up pretty quickly.

When you visit a broker, they can give you the different pricing options as well, for a one-day, two-day, and so on permit--slightly cheaper per day as you increase, so a two-day permit isn't double the cost of a one-day permit.

When one of my cars is in storage, I typically drive it two or three days a month so the temporary operating permit is the cheaper option for me.

Last year I drove my ITR just twice a month. It was cheaper to get temp permits. As soon as I hit three days it was cheaper to just get plates.

I guess your eg is long gone.

I'd guess Fliptuner and Sheridan will have the most cars on here.

Not a day goes by I don't think about changing my car situation. I'm down to 9 + my bike. 6 of these are drivers that I juggle the insurance around on. I'd like to thin it out once I get my projects finished.

The wife is just happy when we're together I'm not driving hers.

I only have 1 car. 2 if you count my wife's (more practical) car.

If I had multiple cars, I'll only want to drive the one that offers the best driving experience. Anything else would feel like a POS. I wouldn't be able to drive a shittier car on regular basis knowing I had something much better in the garage. But it works for my lifestyle since I don't race or go offroading to need dedicated cars beside my daily commuter.

But it's also a big PITA to do maintenance on all of them if I had more cars. It's like having more children. It might be more rewarding, but just know it'll require more effort.

Not really. I haven't put gas in my BMW since last year sometime. As long as you stay on top of fluid changes, and leave the battery on a trickle charger, you can rest easy knowing it'll be ready to go when you are. Tire purchases are once every decade and the rest can wait until you have time.

I currently have a third generation Lexus ES300 XV20 in my garage for 2 weeks and I love having an automatic, comfy, practical, reliable daily driver. And it takes 87!

I've been daily driving my Cayman S for almost a year now and it sucks to daily drive a sports car if I am just going to and from work and the weather is shitty or I hit bad traffic. The suspension is quite stiff, its very very impractical in terms of carrying stuff and people, its noisy and the controls require a lot of effort to operate. Of course the driving experience is second to none when it comes to fun.

tldr: there's merit to having a beater and I am going to ask my uncle if he is selling the Lexus as it is their spare car or will find one for myself.
