But it works for my lifestyle since I don't race or go offroading to need dedicated cars beside my daily commuter.

But it's also a big PITA to do maintenance on all of them if I had more cars. It's like having more children. It might be more rewarding, but just know it'll require more effort.
As soon as you've delved into a multiple cars situation, chances are -- you'll think differently because each vehicle in your fleet will cater to a specific need, and as we go through our daily lives, our exact needs change as well.

Using a 3 car example -- let's say you have a Miata, a Civic, and a Sienna. The Miata is your weekend fun car, and it delivers "the best driving experience" when you want to go out and have fun. But when you are on your daily commute, "the best driving experience" changes because you only want to be cuddled in a nice and comfty seat, let the slushbox worry about the stop-and-go traffic (instead of working your left foot for 30 min non-stop), and enjoy some relative quietness and strong A/C.

And then when you go to IKEA, or need to go out on a family thing with the in-laws, "the best driving experience" changes again into where you need a lot of space.

It makes no sense to own a Corolla, a Civic, and an Accord all at the same time. That is not what multi vehicle ownership is about.

Alright, I picked up my new daily and I have questions regarding insurance/plating of my fun car.

My speed3's insurance expires in Feb 2019. I have Olympic plates which I want to keep, I recall that when we signed up for these plates prior to 2010, we were told we could keep them as memento's of the 2010 games.

I went to see an insurance agent, he says if I cancel the insurance before it expires, I have to surrender the plates, irregardless if they're Olympic plates are not. I asked if I cancel my insurance now and then buy 3 months insurance, would I be able to keep and use the plates, he said no.

Is there any way I can keep my plates and re-use them later other than keep my current insurance until it expires next Feb? I love my plates, but not enough to pay $140 a month for them.

It depends on what you mean by "best" though. I love my GTFour when the traffic is light, but if I'm going to get stuck surrounded by other people I'd rather just float around in my much comfier Jeep.

I'm surprised your insurance agent didn't propose this to you.

The most obvious way I see is -- you should cancel the insurance on your daily, and lose the plate on your daily as a result. After that, you transfer your Speed's insurance (along with the Olympic plate) to the daily. While you're doing it, you can also change the policy from leisure use to daily work/school use as well. This way, you are insuring your daily with the Olympic plate.

When the time comes to re-insure your Speed3, you can just transfer your daily's insurance (with the Olympic plate) to the Speed3 again. And while you're doing it, you can change the usage from work/school to leisure as well. And then separately, if you want to insure your daily as well, you just go do it and get a new plate.

Remember I mentioned earlier that if you let an insurance expire, you can continue to re-use the same plate when you re-insure the car. I think it needs to be the same car, but I know it 100% works because that is exactly what I have been doing in the past few winters.
