Hong Kong launched global data plan for CAD$32 with 5gb of data You only get 21Mbps, not too bad and they give you a free iphone clone smartphone if you sign a 2yrs contract. You can go online pretty much anywhere in the world. https://www.hkbn.net/personal/mobile...on_globalphone http://www.ringhk.com/editor/news201...12_hkbn_03.jpg |
does it support VoLTE and VoIP on Apple devices? are HK providers as scummy as Canadians ones and jack up the rate 6 months later without telling you? |
never happen in hk regarding price hike during the contract period. |
Looks like it must use the Global Phone ? Build in SIM ?? |
This looks awesome. Any way to get it without being physically in HK? I travel a lot, and its list covers pretty much 90% of countries I visit. I probably spent $500/yr between foreign sims when I travel+local sims for F&F when they come over for visit... and this is that I limit my usage. 200HKD a month and I have a world sim? sign me up ASAP. |

6GB instead of 5GB for like $20 CAD Some companies have really sleazy sales people (PCCW) but generally the telco companies here are really good after that for customer service and products that actually work (even PCCW) Have never dealt with HKBN before though |
HKBN is not bad in term of CS and quality. CSL family plan: me, wife, mom, sister HKBN: dad (he bought the internet bundle) |
HKBN seems new.. advertising 200k subs |
so mytv would work here too? Thats the golden nugget |
this is going to be great, i wouldnt mine roaming in china with them mobile contract are amazing in hk no matter how shitty the company are |
The question is can we get it in Canada. Parents are going back to China in Oct/Nov. From what I heard you need to have a Chinese ID in order to get a sim card in China. I remember when I went back years ago my ex always get them for me even at the news stand they check her ID(didn't register but still ask for her ID). I try to open one myself at a physical store in Beijing and show them my passport and they have no idea how to enter my ID LOL. Just want to make sure my parents have internet with them the whole time since they are old and doesn't know tech at all. |
when they arrive the airport, the cell phone service provider kiosk will do the identification |
