The All-New 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class L Sedan - Beijing Autoshow

Wow, that's a mouth full.

I haven't been a fan of MB since they've made all cars look like size variations of the C-Class, and I've also been a long time hater of the CLA. Unlike the CLA, this looks like it has practical rear head room, and a trunk that you can actually fit things in.

Now if only they'd bring this to the NA market, it'd probably do better than the CLA.

But because this car is aimed for the Chinese market, where buyers want luxury and generous rear-legroom, Mercedes took the A-class wheelbase and stretched it by 60 mm (2.4 inches).

Mercedes left the engine alone, so the car will still be launched with a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine. The 2.0-liter will come later. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is standard. Buyers can also get it in sedan and Sport sedan versions.
I do think that the wheels look too big for the car, thoughts?

That's what I was actually thinking, is there actually a point in getting an E class if the C-Class looks the same? I'm hoping that they bring over the A45 AMG sport hatch, looks dope

It's interesting how there wasn't that many Mercs at the spring meet vs all the other German brands. The only Mercs I saw were the older ones.

I think it's cause MB's target market isn't necessarily sport cars/car enthusiasts. They don't make good sports cars, they make good luxury cars. For a my non car friends, if they were looking for luxury, I'd recommend MB. A lot of my friends who have newer AMGS, are likely to just get a regular MB. They say that the extra power isnt worth it for Point A to B stuff. And they bought it because #AMG.

I know there was a big BMW group (cause I was there), but were there other big groups of German brands? I didn't walk around as much this year, saw the group of FR-S/BRZ/FT86 and I was like NOPE.

why not make gauges and infotainment one continuous piece instead of a giant bezel in between the two

Traum 04-24-2018 11:22 AM

These L versions are basically extended cabin / leg room versions of the non-L cars, right? Why would Mercedes even want to make this? Wouldn't it just cannibalize their C & E class sales?

built in China for their market

also, existing C-class is several years old, everyone who wants one already has one

if they release this here then it'll for sure cannibalize the CLA

Ding 04-24-2018 12:41 PM

Honestly, the exterior looks like shit

BIC_BAWS 04-24-2018 12:42 PM

They really should just make this the CLA, the current CLA is a such a POS.
