Internet super slow late night?

So I moved out and got lightspeed (which uses shaw lines, just like teksavvy)

and it seems super super slow past 9pm, lags and buffers in every way possible. Any program/software to see if something else is causing this? Or is it everyones ISP?

my ping in Overwatch is like 150ping average , and on everything basically

got 75dl, with 8 upload, the $50 combo if anyone if wondering.

Well you ask if anyone is having the same issue and I don't seem to have it. Maybe do a speed test at night. If it is slow bypass your router and see?

You could also look into your router settings. I was having issue in the beginning where the router would try to assign the same IP to my PC and my call phone so my cell phone would always drop the WiFi. Once I set the router the assign a specific IP address I don't have any issue.

Cable internet will always suck in certain and/or denser areas because it's "shared bandwidth" compared to DSL where it's dedicated bandwidth.

Might not help either if you're on Lightspeed since Shaw might be prioritizing traffic for their own customers.

fyi, speedtest.net is bullshit and never gives proper internet testing

testmy.net gives proper feedback

fucking less than 3 download... LOL

fuck lightspeed

edit: confirmed not router problems, took off router for testing as well. fuck

been on shaw 150 for the last year+, been getting 150 any time of day since.

could it be that the frequencies of certain companies are too loaded up?

Have not yet heard bad things about Novus.

Your speeds are probably not that bad. You're connected to Dallas. My speeds improved dramatically when I tried the LA servers.

I think I read that Speedtest has a bias, but I just tested my speed with Google and a few other sites and got around the same. I think that testmy.net site just sucks.

But regardless, you're fucked, you need to change to a new ISP, lol.

Just gonna say... 1000 Mbps download is pretty impressive.... :inout:

Give lightspeed tech support a call. They might have to send someone out. I remember when I was with shaw they had to replace some amp or something to get better speeds.

bcrdukes 05-09-2018 08:15 AM

I think OP has transport issues.

You'll have to call your ISP for further support. Try running a tracert to Google or something and see how bad (or good) the results are.

Most likely too many people online at night then. They need to upgrade the node there(well Shaw does I guess). It might be hard since Shaw isn't going to pay for upgrade for another company.
