Thinking of getting my car repainted

My car is 22 years old and I am resto-modding it a bit at a time. Starting to look into repainting it. Like everyone else I would like top of the line work (first priority) for a reasonable price. Any recommendations ?

What's reasonable? Top of the line is like 30k for a paint job.

My friend had his g35 resprayed, oem black at Maaco. His paint wasn’t too bad to begin with but lots of minor scratches and defects and rock chips. He had to go back I think 3 times before he gave up. Lots of run, lots of nibs, lots of fogging (not milky, but as if you did a final top coat, but then sprayed it once more from 6 feet away, if that makes sense). He wasn’t expecting SEMA quality, and he knew when to cut his losses

I've never had to have a car repainted before so I'm embarrassed to say i don't even know how much it costs. I checked with Jan's Autobody in Langley and he said $4000 or so. Did that seem reasonable to you guys? What is a reasonable amount for a repaint. I didn't even consider Maaco because I've heard similar stories before.

Yeah I wouldn’t suggest maaco either, you get what you pay for. My friend paid ~1800 or so, and it looks like he paid $1800 lol. Don’t get me wrong, for a daily driver it’s just fine. But there’s defects and orange peel etc. Not a stunning ‘wet when dry’ look

$4k gets you a shitty paint job. If you want amn oem quailty or better job, you gotta take the entire car apart.
