Makita always seems to have favourable reviews though. |

To each their own, I guess. |
1/4 impact to 3/8, 1/2 and 1/4" adapters on sale at PA for $1.85 |
When buying a cordless tool your not just buying a tool your buying into a system. I'm a big fan of Ryobi. They have a ton of tools that work with their battery and they always have sales. The last think I bought was there battery powered blue gun and I also have their brad nailer, it's freaking awesome. After you get him is first set you can get him a new bare tool every bithday/fathersday/christmas. |

Might as well pick up some icing piping tips and ravioli cutters along with that (overpriced) Festool plunge cut circular saw! |

Unless im buying Festool i wouldnt buy any tools from lee valley, their prices on stuff like this seem to be 10-20% more also in my experience the counter guys at the coquitlam location, they seemed dumber/more stoned than the home depot retards.. I asked to see hinges for cabinetry and the guy was litterally flipping through the 2000 page catalog page by page just blindly staring into the pages.. |
Home Depot usually has better prices than most places when it comes to buying drills. Lee Valley is cheaper for some items if you buy bulk. |
Rigid has lifetime warranty on their batteries FYI |
Just bought a Makita 18v brushless set last month. I had no idea how tools have advanced so far haha. Rediculour how much more enjoyable house work is now. |
Hey everyone, Just an update. I just ended up talking to my dad about the tools he wanted and this Makita set he's been eyeing for long time. Turns out I made a mistake and he only needed a 1/2" hammer drill. He told me he really wanted this set.. https://www.amazon.com/Makita-XT505-...ustomerReviews So that's that. I'm just gonna get him what he wants. Thanks for all the tips. |
Crazy price for that set. Just an FYI though, the cordless skill saws kill batteries. Especially cutting anything other than baseboards etc |

Thanks for the tip! |
There is the new generation of Milwaukee stuff coming out this summer. Its actually pretty cool. One that caught my eye was basically the m12 size . But, this thing can take BOLTS off a car. Once this line comes out, there will be some sales and big price drops. I have the old Gen M12. The one someone else mentioned up top. Its nice, but it does lack power and batteries are a bit weak. Can not take lugs off a car or any kind of heavy duty long carriage bolt or something. Lag screws, are ok driving it. But after 20 or so, you machine gets really hot and batteries are shot. I do not like the larger ones m18 size. Bit too bulky for my taste. But the new gen, is much smaller head size . Once you get used to using smaller drills and drivers, hard to go back to anything that is heavy and large. I have Defaults XP brushless which are larger, but I always tend to go for my smaller M12's 90% of the time. Btw, Lowes has Scratch and Save going on atm. So, check that place out to save some cash. |

I just got into construction. Seems like most plumbers prefer Milwaukee m18 fuel. Might be to powerful for your father though. Tim "the tool man" Taylor would say never enough power |

What are Bosch users usually then? I like their stuff (some of the most compact 18V tools) but not a lot of accessory and tool options compared to other brands. |

it's also looks to be their "older" set |
