Best quality cellphone holder?

Been to these Chinese stores in Aberdeen and Crystal mall. Pure trash! Looking for the ones that clip to the fan. I have a pixel XL 2 with a big case. Any recommendations? Even Amazon.ca recommendations as well

I use an Aukey/Spigen magnet that you stick to the air vents. On my Pixel XL (Gen 1), I use two magnets, because the phone is pretty heavy.

Edit: Added links. Also, don't try to use it for very spirited driving/autocross/trackday - it will fall off (with 1 magnet)

I've had zero luck with ones that clip to the vent and I've tried probably 3. Ended up with a window suction short arm one. Window suction with longer arms vibrate way too much.

I'm pretty satisfied with this one. I placed it on the top left side of the windscreen so no view is obstructed. It might be kind of awkward for the front passenger, but they're not driving. I've had it for 2 weeks. My only concern is that the hand tightened settings might come loose.

I made my own phone holder from a card holder and placed right beside the shift knob, there is no way I can mount a cellphone holder on my dash or vents

The best cell phone mounts are Ram-X mounts. It's held up to high speeds on my motorcycle and has even made it through a crash without any damage to my phone. Although I'm not sure if they offer a vent mount, I personally don't like vent mounts as they're all flimsy.

Ram Mounts or bust. You want quality, that's what you get.

Magnetic vent clips is the way to go. Simple, cheap, hassle-free. Snap on, snap off, simple as that.

Go with a reputable brand though, such as Spigen. Chinese knock-off magnets tend to be incredibly weak.

Aukey magnetic vent clip

DragonChi 06-14-2018 05:28 PM

Does the magnetic clip mess with reception? I always thought that it might.

Those magnets are strong enough to hold securely, but too weak to mess with reception.

vitaminG 06-14-2018 07:25 PM

ive been pretty happy with my aukey magnetic vent holder. the magnet is strong enough to hold my phone securely even during some pretty rough roads. if you get them on the chinese sites their dirt cheap, i think i have like a dozen and give them out to family members.

only con is im not a huge fan of sticking a steel plate to the back of my phone.

These are car specific and will fit better than anything else. You'll need to buy 2 pieces tho, one piece that will fit your car and another that will fit your phone.

Most likely this. Can i put it inside my Spigen case? The magnets

Gh0stRider 06-14-2018 07:55 PM

i put the plate on the inside of my phone case and it attaches fine. If the case is too thick then you can put the plate on the outside of the case

Verdasco 06-14-2018 09:41 PM

thanks guys, AUKEY magnet seems like the go to for me

whitev70r 06-14-2018 09:53 PM

Strong magnet doesn't negatively affect the electronics, like the chips/memory of phone?

acurael 06-14-2018 11:07 PM

kenu air frame. works well for my iphone not sure about other phones though

Strong as in the rare earth metals might. But all these magnetic phone holder things are far too weak.

roastpuff 06-15-2018 09:33 AM

I use the Spigen premium 6-magnet mount with adjustable ball socket. Stronger than the regular round one and I can angle it to have the phone face towards me. Been very solid so far.

The easy one-touch is really good. Still use mine from time to time.

Ram mounts are my go-to stupid expensive though.
