How's smithers? Worth checking out?

The question is, what do you plan on doing there?
Smithers is a pretty town, but it's small and there isn't much going on there. The airport is actually nothing more than an airstrip and a tiny building.

I have been there, and I went there by plane. As the only visible minority at the airport, they detained me for 3 hours and missed my flight, and further detained me again. It was not fun. Would not go back. The Chinese food was not bad, however.

Go visit Berz - he's there!

Village has an "Alpine European" feel to it a little bit, Schimmel's is great for European pastries. Their apple strudel... The sausage factory is fun too, lots of interesting Dutch stuff there.

The mountain is nice, the fishing is great, mountain biking is awesome if you're into it. A bit small for a dedicated visit, go north to Hyder just for the hell of it IMO.

wtf, who detained you? The staff at the Smithers Airport?

lol, that is a destination I did not expect to see pop up.

Smithers has it's charms for sure, but if you're not an outdoor orientated person, or visiting people you know who live there, I'm not sure why it would be a destination to visit? Some good hiking, awesome biking, and great hunting to be had up there though.

Been there 5+ times; it's a middle zone to go to between Prince Rupert and prince george.

I was just there last Oct; fly into price George and drove there. very small town feel; it's like a ski resort type feel. Met a client of mine there once and the rest of the times were on a personal volunteering trip.

It's extremely difficult to fly into Smithers due to dense fog so just be sure during fall / winter time, you make sure you book 2 flights ahead the last one due to cancellation. Flights are always unique as they are 10-18 people and you get to watch the pilots right in front of you if you sit in the front roll.

their local mountains is not worth it, but i personally haven't been there. longest run is only 1.2 km and a total of 36 runs.

Work relocation. Thinking about it. Might be a temp thing. Just exploring options.

Yeah, I might visit to check it out.

Just to the sake of clarity, I wasn't joking in my original post.

Nice town, however.

It's a great place to get some quality gummers.
