Now the question, how complicated is to maintain one of these cars? how much do they differ from regular cars in a sense of what needs to be done to keep it in running condition?

I mean, I know they are pushed to the limit and hence require frequent service and stuff replaced... but other than that... what am I missing?

To me if the car is fully caged its a race car, otherwise no.
