EG6 Parts/Replacement: Oil Pan

Hello all,

I'm in the middle of fixing up my Civic and I need a new oil pan.

Wondering what the community considers a strong brand.

I'm working my way from the back to the front and I have very little knowledge on cars and aftermarket parts and what's good quality vs not - so hopefully you guys can help me along the way.

I haven't pulled out the current pan, so I'm not sure what's in there. Could be a modified stock pan - not sure.

Some details - I have a B18 84mm block with a B16 head/vtec w/ Garrett T3/T4 turbo and the car is lowered.

Thoughts here?

Help is much appreciated!

What’s wrong with the current pan?

XSSIV 07-24-2018 01:44 PM

It's leaking oil out of the pan in several places. It looks like they may have modified the pan.

Also have a turbo oil leak :awesom: may or may not have something to with the pan.

Also oil gauge isn't reading properly perhaps.

moroso has always been a big brand in aftermarket oil pans.

Glad to hear! It's pretty much the only one I could find online.

Looks like mopac in Langley is a dealer. $400 for the pan tho ouch! LOL...

Cheers!

Can’t just replace the pan gasket for like $20 and 15min?

Ran factory pan on 5 turbo’d Honda’s

I've taking it apart tomorrow morning. I'll post some photos of the progress and what's going on (haven't removed the pan yet). Could just be some lines are broken. Ultimately, I have an oil leak. Doesn't appear to be engine. Turbo and pan are affected though.

When I turn the car on, a bunch oil spews out the turbo and there's noticeable leaks in the pan area too.

I believe it's a stock pan I got right now.

Most of the time when oil pans leak, it's the gasket/sealant and not the pan itself

I hope it's this easy!

I'll post progress

So... I embarrassed to say that oil leak was a...

*Drumroll*

Loose oil filter....

I cleaned everything underneath, inspected all spots... Touched the oil filter and it was loose. Was able to give it about 4 spins with my fingers loose.

So everything seems tip top.

Just need to fix the cable on driver's side e-brake and clean her up and she'll be ready for the Vancouver streets!

Need new battery and glue as well. The rubber around the windshield is coming off.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Glad it was a series of false alarms.

I have Civic batteries.

Use urethane for the trim but mask off the area first. That shit is a bitch to get off and can make a mess.

XSSIV 07-27-2018 11:46 AM

What does this mean?

I have a optima high performance agm battery. Bought July 16 2017. I have receipt. Was going to see if I can exchange.

Should I be using a different battery?

fliptuner 07-27-2018 11:54 AM

If they'll replace it, why not?

Wouldn't be my first choice, otherwise.

XSSIV 07-27-2018 11:57 AM

What battery should I use? I feel like I've been having battery issues since I've owned this thing.

fliptuner 07-27-2018 12:03 PM

Optima quality has gone downhill and is pretty hit or miss.

Depends what you're doing with the car, if weight matters.

XSSIV 07-27-2018 12:44 PM

Weight may matter one day.. when I'm less people like Louis says... So I don't think weight is an issue at the moment.

Hey guys - so car SEEMS to be running strong.

However, as soon as I turn key, my oil pressure gauge goes past 100.

I've got a part lined up for me at Lordco to replace. But I'm concerned it may not be the gauge. It's like 120bones for this thing.

This is I believe what's in the car and what I've got on hold at Lordco.
