Shipping a bucket seat from Perth Australia to BC Canada

I am looking for a reasonably priced shipping company for a single bucket seat going from Australia to Canada. Any advice would be appreciated.

Here are some of the air shipping quotes received so far.

Dimension: 60cm x 50cm x 90cm Weight: 7.7 kg
Postal code: 6021 to V9A 2M8

I have my own broker I use for duty/tax etc.

FedEx: 1500
DHL: 1300
UPS: 873

The box is too large for Australia Post.

Any suggestions on who to contact for surface (sea freight)?

From seeing Aussies trying to mail skis/snowboard gear back to Aus every spring I don't think there are any terribly cheap ways to ship stuff to/from there. Finding someone flying from there and having them check it as oversized luggage seems to be the most cost-effective option.

^ Thanks for the advice guys. I am tempted to fly there have a vacation and then bring it with me as oversize luggage on the way back for the prices they are charging!

if it was out of sydney or melbourne id say go for it. But Perth? that means you gotta fly into the friggin country (already an 18+ hour flight) and make a god damn 3 hour connector on their regional shit airlines. Quantas/Virgin auzzy they all suck!

Vancouver to Sydney, Brisbane, or Melbourne, Australia - $844 to $860 CAD roundtrip including taxes

Maybe domestic Aussie shipping might be reasonable? And OP can pick it up at one of the above bigger cities during his vacation.

Nice find! ^ My wife really wants to go back as she lived in Sydney for a year. Make a holiday of it. I will likely have to buy her something nice while in the country too lol

Freightos quoted approx. $785 CAD by air. I requested a custom quote by ocean. Will see what they come back with. Legit company and good customer service already.

If you want to read about nightmares with a shipping company check these scammers out. My seller found this company and thank god I researched reviews: https://www.productreview.com.au/p/d...t-freight.html

Yeah you cant really go wrong with freightos. I know they move a lot of rich people's yachts around the world so i figure you would be in good hands. Prices are also super competitive (the whole industry is a friggin race to the bottom right now anyways) but expect a 2-3 week turn around to get your stuff.

It's a Recaro Pole Position red with white logo. Made in 2016 and still new never used. In the last year or two Recaro discontinued the white logo so this is exactly the seat I want. (A side note that Recaro discontinued the red Profi SPG years ago and jersey red Pole Position this year.)

Not only is it the seat I want but the price is much lower than new. This seat is $965 CAD vs brand new red with black logo is $1430 CAD.

Will post up the custom ocean quote when I receive it.

Their company name reminds me of:

Thank you all for the help.

Freightos called me this morning. They said ocean freight is just as much as air freight? wtf. Either way shipping a single large item from Australia is just too much.

I spoke to a German Recaro seller on ebay and he had a pair of these in stock brand new. Just bought one. Not listed on ebay.ca or .com. I just bought a new seat with shipping from Gemany for $1172 CAD (plus tax/duty). The seat in Australia would have been $1000 CAD + $700 CAD shipping = $1700 CAD (plus tax/duty)

Compare to evasive which wants $1098.00 USD ($1430 CAD) plus shipping.

Thats the crazy thing Teg, if you would have shipped half a container, it would have been roughly the same price. Moving 1 item or half a 20' mixed can is the same cost. Kinda like Costco, cheaper in bulk.

If you could find someone flying over from aus and help you bring it back....I know there are a lot of people doing it for china to here and vice versa
