Xbone Knowlege required

I haven't bought a console in a long time but am in the market for XB One.

What is the best "combo" out there and where is the best place to buy from?

I was in Costco and they have a XBOne S 500G with 2 controllers, 1 year of Live and 3 months of the pass for $349. Is the memory on the consoles a big deal? Walmart has 1TB Memory and only 1 controller for about the same cost as the one from Costco.

I guess there is the X version as well? Is it worth the extra investment to get the X rather than the S? I'm a casual gamer that won't be doing much online gaming (shitty internet) and will be buying discs for games and not DL'ing them.

Help me RS!

Berz out.

Xbox one X is 4k ultra hd and looks pretty damn good if when you got a 4k ultra hdtv to match it up..huge noticeable different when i saw games on it.

Is the memory on the consoles a big deal? : if you find your self buying a stack of games, yes!,the stupid Consoles now a days Has to copy the disk data on the harddrive everytime no matter what when you play, the "out of data" is annoying...every game is 50gb and got used up insanely fast on 500gb..i upgraded to 1tb asap.

I had the original xbox one then recently upgraded to the x.

The OG isn't bad its a bit slow when loading games etc but I would say if you're in the market for an xbox right now I would say trying to find someone that's willing to sell the OG one isn't bad.

The "S" is the middle ground, it uses less power and its smaller than the OG. It can do 4k in some places but not where it counts.

The "X" is the most powerful and is the latest and greatest. Only go this route if you're looking to get something with 4k.

Storage as said above is important but what you can do is run an external Harddrive, generally cheaper than buying a bigger sized xbox.

How does this work?

Also how do I go about transferring all my save game data from my 360 to the new console? Is the XBone backwards compatible with games? Xbox has been pretty good about that in the past.

Some games are backwards compatible not all.

I saved my games to the cloud on the 360 allowing the xbox one to automatically pick them up.

As for the external harddrive, just have to plug one in. The xbox will format it and then you can transfer games to the external drive.

One X

Faster loading times
4K capability

i have an OG xbone, when i play online with buddies who have the X, buildings on their maps load way faster and they are still just blocks on my end lol
500gb is a fart in the wind in terms of space when you get a couple games on there. i'm always having to delete shit.
go for the big dog!

I'm not sure if they changed it, but I remember originally the connection speed for an external drive was faster than the internal drive, so games would load faster off an external drive. That made paying extra for a bigger internal drive pretty pointless since it was worse than buying the smaller one + an external.

If you have a 4K TV absolutely get the X

stuck a SSD into my One X
it's not very straight forward unlike a PlayStation

Yea, they don't recommend this.
USB 3.0 with an SSD is already quick enough there's no real need to open it up to replace the drive.

Get 1TB, I dont buy a lot of games, but i'm subscribed to EA's Service and Game Pass and i'm already maxed out on space and I only have like 15 games installed. Itll build up fast.

FYI,

Since you mentioned you're on Telus Mobility Wireless Internet, there's an issue with PS4/XB1 going online. You need a IP service change, but it's currently not available right now.
