Removing melted plastic off concrete I found what looks like a big pile of melted plastic/metal and some cloth rags. My friend said it's probably like some crackhead was cooking his shit on it or something? I'm not sure how it works and I can't really explain it properly... but basically right now it looks like a layer of hardened clay glued on top of my concrete tiled walkway. There's another spot with a colourful rainbow of blue/green plastic that looks melted right into the concrete. It's almost impossible to remove... right now I'm using a hammer and screwdriver to crack and pry off bits and pieces but it's a complete pain in the ass and chunks are breaking off and flying everywhere. I've worked on it for an hour and only got off about half of the bigger chunks, a lot of it is still fused to the ground. I don't even know what to google or if anyone know if there any easier method? Seriously... fucking bums... ugh |
Step 1 Heat the plastic with a heat gun. Hold the heat gun approximately 10 to 12 inches away from the plastic to avoid overheating it. You do not have to liquefy the plastic -- you simply need to heat the plastic until it is pliable. If you do not have a heat gun, you can use a hair blow dryer. A blow dryer will take longer to heat the plastic. Step 2 Scrape the plastic off the concrete with a putty knife. Step 3 Reheat the area with the heat gun and remove any excess plastic with the putty knife. Step 4 Sand the surface of the concrete with a concrete floor sander. If the area is small or you do not care about inconsistencies in the surface smoothness of the concrete area, you can use a small orbital sander to sand just the area that had the plastic on it. Start with a 60-grit paper and graduate to an 80-grit and then a 100-grit. The only plastic that will remain is the plastic that melted deep into the pores of the concrete. https://www.hunker.com/13416469/how-...-from-concrete |
Holy shit, danned.......... going from noisy pie plates to plastic removal......... I was so impressed, until I clicked on the link. If it solves obsidion's problem, free sushi for you! |
Theres a chance it could also be resin. In any case, heating equals toxic fumes... sanding equals toxic dust. Id get a large pry bar and hammer at it. |
