What do you mean by Pathfinder'd?

jcmaz 10-30-2018 10:47 PM

The last generation Pathfinder was a true body on frame truck that was burly enough for offroading and what not. The current one is a unibody body model and loses all the off road credentials.

Imagine the redesigned 4Runner becoming a Highlander - you'd be pissed off.

twitchyzero 11-25-2018 11:06 PM

Pro doesn't have KDSS, but Off-Road does

oh ok

Both the pathfinders you posted there are unibody. The model in between those the ~04-12 ones were body on frame though.

Is there any actual evidence there's going to be a redesign of the 4runner? I haven't heard anything about it and it we all know Toyota takes their sweet fucking time redesigning cars

white rocket 11-26-2018 08:36 AM

Nothing confirmed from Toyota AFAIK. They should be getting very close to a redesign though.

Our third vehicle has been deemed a total loss so we got paid out but now we just have my wife's Alltrack at the primary family mobile. We have no intention of going back to being a 3 car family. Super shitty as now the pressure is on more than ever for this stupid thing to arrive. I'll be pissed if I'm waiting until May next year. Ugh :(

rps13 11-26-2018 09:30 AM

Friend just bought a 2019 4runner limited and got $3,850 off, and will take 2 weeks to arrived.
He been told the all the TRD PRO are selling at over MSRP and will take at least 6 months to arrived.

twitchyzero 11-26-2018 11:04 AM

t4r historically gets redesigned every 5-6 years and the current one is coming up 10

not gonna lie, for a SUV built for the 2020s i hope they make a trim with PHEV, wireless carplay, adaptive matrix LEDs, adaptive cruise control but still keep the body on frame, retractable rear window, etc.

no don't tell me to go look at a Highlander :lawl:

You're a dream killer sir :QQ: Haha!

If my wife read this we'd be getting a Limited tomorrow. Thankful that she doesn't even know what a Revscene is :awwyeah:

The dream lives!!!

Sooooooooo........I was offered a Voodoo Blue today and has to pass. Not my style at all. Here's what I learned today. Apparently this was a Midnight Black factory order at the highest level of the dealer conglomerate placed before the summer with as much pull as you can get with the manufacturer and they still didn't get the color they wanted. Now it's being offered to other high value clients (that's me). I believe I was the 2nd or 3rd right of refusal for this particular one. So this means that there is a possibility that I may not get one at MSRP or below or even at all. I'm putting all my eggs in the basket that says that people will start backing away from orders after waiting too long and I'll be able to scoop one up. White or black is fine and I'd be happy with either.

I have heard horror stories about the limited allocation of these units throughout the U.S. and wasn't sure how the Canadian market would be affected. Apparently the same. Doesn't matter how much money you have, you cannot factory order a TRD Pro and be guaranteed a unit at all. It's a dice roll at best.

The wait continues............................

GabAlmighty 12-10-2018 03:36 PM

I think that's a super sharp colour, but definitely an eye catcher. Which i'm assuming is why it wasn't your style haha.

Good luck on your adventure!

twitchyzero 12-10-2018 04:34 PM

are you okay with paying MSRP next summer after new gen is announced and it's still body-on-frame?

Thanks! Yea, it's just such a novelty color and I know it will wear off when I start seeing black and white ones around. I'm basic, lol.

Yes. If it arrives, I take it for MSRP, then later on the 2020 is announced and it's the 6th and it's better, then I can always sell/trade with a negligible financial loss due to they're popularity. Not worried about that at all. I'd hate to wait, not get it, and not have any 2019's anywhere and be relegated to the pre-owned market where I'm paying near MSRP anyway. Or I'm stuck with a new gen that is not body-on-frame as all new 2019's have sold. I feel like I can always revert back to just getting a TRD Off Road but I'd hate to settle and buy one then get offered the Pro after the fact once one becomes available.

The wait continues..........

I still wish they left cement as the Pro only colour. That was one naise colour.

You are certainly smart to wait, especially if you want a specific colour. Maybe I'll buy it off you when the new one IS body on frame! :alonehappy:

Agreed. Easily the best color offered, by far. But they changed it to a metallic finish when they opened it up for other models. Lame. Cavalry Blue is available now as well but I haven't seen a non-Pro rocking it yet though.

twitchyzero 12-10-2018 08:25 PM

good choice, storm trooper white looks stunning..the voodoo blue is too much 'look at me look at me look at me' more suited for a Porsche RS with a big wang

buying first model year is not ideal either...though paying those fees and taxes for new vehicle sucks

also, if anything the Tundra is due for a new redesign first...bloody 13 years!

The white is the clear winner, both in looks and practicality. Black adds an aggressive and sleek motif and I'm wiling to endure the maintenance. Either color will be fully paint corrected and ceramic coated.

Agreed. Tried, tested and true is how I like to roll, hence buying a near $60k SUV that's slow, thirsty, and full of old tech. I love it though.

I thought they updated it in 2014/2015? when the new Taco came out. There is a clear difference from a 2007-2013/4 and the current model but not sure if it is a true generation difference or a refresh. Same 5.7L motor since 2007 with a 4.7L option like the first gen. Not sure if the latter is still in production. The 5.7L eat gas though.

white rocket 02-08-2019 02:05 PM

2020 updates might be worth the wait.......

-Bigger infotainment with Apple Car Play and others
-More techy cluster with more info
-Push Button Start/Smart Key
And the big one................

twitchyzero 02-08-2019 05:50 PM

does the $60K taco turd pro still come with drum brakes in the rear? :heckno:

and are they seriously updating the sequoia? it's 12 years old!

MarkyMark 02-08-2019 05:55 PM

Who the fuck is buying a Sequoia TRD Pro lol

They would have been better off giving the Rav 4 the Pro treatment

twitchyzero 02-08-2019 06:28 PM

i just wanna see a hybrid 4R/LX/Land Cruiser

a modern, body on frame built in Japan that isn't gonna be a gas hog

vitaminG 02-08-2019 06:29 PM

I mean those are just updates and facelifts, all those vehicles are due for a complete redesign at some point

DavidNguyen 02-08-2019 07:32 PM

What did you end up getting?

Was driving home on the highway today. Thought it was a tacoma TRD Pro. But it was a TRD Sport modded. Damn was it nice!

white rocket 02-09-2019 12:17 AM

Fuck the Sequoia, totally not why I posted that video. Lol!! More to highlight the new updates for the 4Runner itself. Accident prevention (TSS) is also another item they are adding to the 2020 model. It sounds like the 2021 4Runner will be the 6th gen. Yes, the Taco still has rear drums. Haha!

Still just waiting on my 4Runner TRD Pro to arrive. Currently considering just waiting for a 2020 but will most likely take the 2019 and upgrade when the 2020 comes out if desired. The Pro's seem to hold their value pretty good.

twitchyzero 09-13-2019 03:47 PM

was keeping my eyes on next-gen, gaa'damn they're doubling down on this gen probably stretching it closer to 15 years...this is worse than the iphone 11 :suspicious:

finally carplay and push start...also safety sense

they're doing a trd off-road 'Plus'...some trd Pro bling on the new Venture trim

2020MY MSRP went up $2k, oh ok

https://driving.ca/toyota/4runner/au...f-road-venture

jshen 09-13-2019 09:31 PM

Think I read somewhere that 2022 will be the year of the 6th Gen.
