Bush 41 George H.W. Bush1924–2018 President who led U.S. as Cold War ended dies at 94 George H.W. Bush, the 41st president of the United States and the father of the 43rd, was a steadfast and masterful force on the international stage who approached the changing world with a pragmatic view. The last veteran of World War II to serve as president, he came to be seen as a consummate public servant and a statesman who helped guide the nation and the world out of a four-decade Cold War. Yet his lack of sure-footedness in the face of a faltering U.S. economy produced a turnaround in his soaring political fortunes after the triumph of the Persian Gulf War. He lost his bid for a second term as president. By Karen Tumulty |
I was around for Reagan and remember him from the Challenger explosion and the "tear down this wall" speech, but he was more of a pop culture figure to me. I didn't really understand the importance and the role of the President until Bush Sr. Like a lot of elderly couples where one partner passes away, the other is not far behind. RIP. |
Another funeral trumps not invited to. |
What’s crazy is people think bush/the bushes were a joke, in reality they were amongst the most influential presidents ever. Every modern president is. It’s like athletes, the newer you are, the better you are. Crosby is Better then Gretzky, Lebron is better than Jordan, etc. As you come into the modern era there are way more advanced problems to handle than your predecessors. He fell behind a rising tide of popular culture only to be redeemed by his son in the following election. People like the Bush’s know no other life than Public. They bear an enormous burden throughout their life, only so few are dedicated to this life. RIP |
Not sure if you guys knows his but when he was living in Beijing he always ride a bike to work and was pretty common folk in a way |

was too young when the Gulf War happened did Desert Storm not leave a giant mess in the years after like Iraqi Freedom did after 2003? |
No, Saddam left Kuwait and everyone called it a day. probably the cleanest US war after WWII |
H Bush was a fan of the Chinese history book the 3 kingdom, he never took over Iraq cuz he knew if would be a mess and that's why he left saddam there to be in charge I think he's also a fan of the book art of war by sun tzu |
RIP Mr. President. I think we all owe you a debt of gratitude for putting that belligerent neighbor of yours in Springfield in his place |

Basically the general US population wouldn't support invading Kuwait to fight Saddam's army so a clever story was concocted to tug on the heart strings of the American people and convince them war was the only way. It worked. Sound familiar? The Bush family are as rancid as can be. Look up HW's father Prescott. |
I want to remind people that Bush used depleted uranium and white phosphorus on Fallujah, which has contributed to the number of birth defects outstripping those in post-atom-bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki. |

My dad was working in Saudi Arabia so my family was concerned about the war. From what I remember as an impressionable and naive kid: Saddam = bad, US = good Sadam invaded Kuwait for Oil, US and an "assembly" of nations help the small country of Kuwait from getting their oil taken away by Saddam's Iraq. CNN did an amazing coverage of showing live feeds of the war. The private school I went to was displaying CNN at the library at that time (mind you, this was when having cable and satellite tv was having the latest and greatest). So of course, everything CNN said was bible. |

During the Gulf War, my Grandma went on a trip to Vegas and bought me a t-shirt. It had an eagle head on it and American flag graphics in the background, only it comprised of neon blue and pink instead of royal blue and red. It said: "Desert Storm: Our Colors Don't Run!" I ended up wearing it for a Halloween costume as a redneck Bush Jr. supporter at the time of the second Iraq war. Anyways, I have vivid memories of news feeds with night vision explosions and anti-aircraft fire on CNN. There was HBO movie about CNN making a name for themselves during Desert Storm starring Michael Keaton called Live From Bagdad, for anyone interested, and touches on the incubator story. |

It's sad that Trump is such a piece of trash, people are looking back to George Bush of all people, and missing him as a legitimate president. My god, we as people are TERRIBLE when it comes to remembering history, and judging accordingly. Anyways, RIP. |
Yea and Saddam was an angel... |
