If you can find one, a 7th Gen Accord V6 Sedan comes in 6-speed with 06 and 07 model years.

If you are okay with having 2 doors(but still 5 seats), you can look for Accord Coupe V6 with 6-speed. A bit easier to find than the Sedan 6-speed.

The GS300 is the antithesis of a track car. It's a nice family car for sure but handles like a boat. Maybe think about the Acura CL coupe with the 6 speed manual. You might be able to find that within your budget.

Matrix... something I hadn't considered... one guy goes to our track days with an ?xrs, is that the supercharged version? I'll have to look into that.

If I am looking shorter term (talking two doors and less money) why not an older somewhat built civic? The ep3 REALLY appeals to me, but I have heard they are somewhat tame without the RSX K swap?

Not sure I'm ready for a honda fit... seems very much an attempt at a tame commuter, I wanna put a smile on my face coming into the corners... change my mind?

If I could find the right RSX S I would likely have to scoop it up... if in my price range. But what about other acuras? The early TSX had the same K20 in it... comparable handling? Aftermarket support?

Not sure about VWs... havent really looked at the older models, are you thinking a vr6 or GLI? or is that way out of my current price range?

That BB6 prelude is something I used to dream about in highschool... not sure why I havent really been considering it. How do you guys think it would compare to a civic of similar era on the track?

I have seen a few g35s for sale lately... havent seriously considered one yet, I think it's hard to get one that isn't totally beat in my price range.

The EP3 has the same K20A3 motor as the base model RSX. However, IIRC the SIR has better gear ratios than the base RSX. The TSX has a k24 motor with more power and torque, it seems to fit all your criteria. You should be able to find a manual one for 5k. Im currently dailying one and it has been great. However, I do wished it had a lower vtec crossover and higher redline..

What does everyone think about RHD vehicles in a LHD world?
I was reading about an ICBC "study" that quotes accident rates for RHD vehicles at 40% higher than LHD... My wife also firmly believes they are at higher risk of accidents (can't say I whole heartedly disagree with her), when considering blind spots for corners, merging, lane changes, etc.

This sucks... look at Altezza vs IS300, 200hp high reving 4 banger with a 6 speed manual, vs 2JZGE (yes I know, great motor...) and a five speed auto (how boring). I seriously like the altezza, especially the Gita (sportcorss is lexus equivalent), but don't want the added accident risk, PLUS I think resale is pretty tough.

Over this week I have thought lots more, maybe I don't need to hit all those check boxes under 6k, maybe don't need car seat room and I can just upgrade when that time comes... This brings me back to the Ep3, which got me searching for some of its rivals for that era... should be around my price range.

RHD is fine, just means you might have to wait for the light to go yellow/red when you're turning left.

You quotations around the word study tells you everything you need to know about that haha.

The accident rates are only higher because the majority of RHD cars are sports cars driven by young people. I think it's pretty safe to say in a lot of the accidents being RHD had little (if anything) to do with it. The only time I find it genuinely inconvenient is when making a right turn when there's the big concrete island that pedestrians wait on. Then I end up trying to look out of my passenger rear or rear window and the visibility isn't as good as just looking out the drivers door window in a LHD car.

You can find a manual IS300, they're just a bit harder to find. Like you I prefer the 3SGE over the 2JZGE though.

those are typically at major intersections where visibility is pretty good? just don't angle your car out while yielding...wait a few feet back parallel to the right of way

I don't know how it compares to the SVT and GTI, but I can only assume that it is probably more reliable and cheaper to maintain than the SVT and GTI based on how common the K20A3 and all the other variants are. One notable problem that exists in the EP3 and DC5 are the rubber sway bar end links which are super easy to fix yourself and are relatively cheap.

It depends on the intersection, some aren't too bad but some are terrible. Worst case I just do the same thing I do for left hand turns when I can't see, wait for the light to change and then go.

Integra GS-R, Civic SiR (EM1), B-Series swapped Hondas, Mazda Miatas, Mazda RX-8s if you're brave.

RHD cars under $4-6K can be found on CL sometimes. I found an Evo for 6K once.

both my ls430 and IS300 (manual) were bought under 5k lol

keep looking on craigslist, be open to anything and u'll get a deal. stay away from EP3...it lacks a few intake and exhaust lobes and it makes it really undesirable.... because you can get a RSX-S for similar money.

does toyota have any cheap fun manual hatches?

personally think having an enclosed trunk going forward is a bad idea unless you have to have something niche like a Cayman or for 4k ydgaf because you'll run it to the ground
