I've noticed the ICBC year 2020 insurance stickers are the same colour as the 2019...

Every year you get a new insurance sticker, it seems to be a different colour. 2017 was green, 2018 orange etc. 2019 was yellow.

Interesting, 2020 is also yellow, exact same as 2019.

I thought the point of changing them up every year was to make it easier to spot that you've got the right sticker for your year insurance or whatever.

Just a random thought...

Not so sure it matters all that much, doesn’t change whether it’s expired or not and there’s 2 colours valid for almost all of every calendar year anyway depending when your renewal is.

In short, who cares? I can’t think of a situation where it needs to be colour identified whether you’re insured or not.

2015 had the same color

why do they even bother with the sticker? since we only have one issuer, police should just be able to come up with an expiry date when running plates

Much easier for police to see if you have valid tags or your insurance expired 11 months ago.

Trust me, they don’t look at or know the colours for the years. They can barely even remember to check or put the decals on their own police cars half the time let alone drive around checking for x colour. I know, I used to distribute them.

They’ll notice an expired decal if they’re directly behind someone in traffic and that’s about it.

And again, what does it matter? If someone is really trying to not pay for insurance they can steal a decal anyway??? Or steal plates from another car? So what difference does the colour of the decal make for spotting validity? They gotta run the plate, which they always do and VPD even has auto scanners on a lot of their cars that do it for them.

So they can pull you over to give you a VI easier.
"Oh I pulled you over because I thought your insurance was expired, but now up close I see your blinker fluid appears to be non OEM. Also your muffler bearing is out of spec. A tow truck will be here soon, and you are welcome for keeping Vancouver safe."

Lol got pulled over 2 blocks from my house last night due to my insurance sticker not being completely visible. It just opens the doors for them to pull you over without actual reasons. I ask to get out and take a look, cop told me it was to unsafe to. Running my plates gives them all the info they need, lets not mention the bright ass LEDs illuminating license plate pretty damn well.

^ I have removed my license plate frame altogether for this reason

Yep, had to make sure I buy license plate frame that don't cover up the sticker.

I am pretty good with details, I went home and brought the whole plate up an eight of an inch. I exposed the bottom part of the 9. lets hope I get another one, I have decided to record each authorities encounter as it has become more of annoyance rather then anything significant.

twitchyzero 02-11-2019 12:14 PM

where? Richmond RCMP?
that's silly...too lazy to run plates
instead of converting to LED i just pulled it off and left it in the housing...if i get asked i'll just say it fell off
