Application to be mod? - VI thread related
 

Request: Make me a minor mod so I can mod the VI thread or someone mod the VI thread more closely.

Hey guys,

Many of you guys know me as the guy who started the VI thread and trying to manage the media relations side of things. The reason why I am asking to be mod today is ultimately due to the VI thread. Of the 90 pages, many of it is irrelevant or troll posts.

While I wasn't here from the beginning, I'd imagine that its because many of the OGs grew up, have families, have full time jobs, have a life outside of Revscene. I also understand that the reality of Revscene is that it is dying. Due to that, I think it would be unreasonable to ask for more moderation in the VI thread. As sometimes more moderation reduces member activity.

While RS tends to mod itself and I'm not entirely familiar of what instances of trolling are passable, in this specific case, I'd like to ask for more moderation in the VI thread. My goals for the VI thread started off as a PSA, but has delved into a rich source of information for enthusiasts and other individuals. I'd like to see something come of all of our efforts.

Generally, I like to stay as neutral as possible as other sides of the coin can provide useful perspective. However, of the 90 pages, I'd probably like to delete some troll posts, simply because its irrelevant or wrong.

As I mentioned, I understand that many people are very busy and have their own lives. Due to that, I think it would be unreasonable to ask you guys to put in more time into the thread. Since I'm already on the thread 24/7, my request to be a minor mod is simple. I just want to mod the VI thread so that it can be a useful go-to FAQ/Discussion.

We do monitor the thread closely.

Believe it or not, to stay neutral we do have to let the trolls post, we can give them a warning or two and if they don't behave ban them from the thread which we have done for a few people.

In terms of irrelevant, well no thread is ever fully relevant to the thread title. That's just how it is.
