Today only, public mobile 5gb and unlimited Canada calling for 25 bucks

https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/

Just signed up my dad and his friend. Today only.

As Crs mentioned below it's 5gigs 1 time bonus. After you use it all up, it's back to 1gig a month for 25 bucks.

CRS 06-01-2019 06:38 PM

This is a ONE-TIME 5GB bonus.

It won't reoccur month-to-month.

SkinnyPupp 06-01-2019 06:56 PM

After that it's "$30" per month for 1GB?!? WutFace And that's data only, no voice. The voice plans are all 3G...

No the guy said you get unlimited Canada wide and text plus the 1 gig afterwards for 25 bucks plus tax. For somebody like my old man this is still better than his pay as you go fido plan.

That's 3G though... I guess if he's just using it for IM and emails... but I don't know if that's good enough for youtube or anything

In that case you're paying for 1GB when you don't really need more than 100-300MB or so... But I guess the way the pricing is structured, they're all overpriced

If this is the mobile data situation in Canada.. wow.. WutFace

PeanutButter 06-01-2019 07:48 PM

isn't public mobile 3G bandwidth only?
Making it essentially useless for most people?

Their plans are prefect for senior & kids.
when you only get 1 GB data.
3G or 4GLTE doesn't really matter much.

You are a light data user to begin with (email, messengers...etc.)
It load Youtube without problem.

Best of all, their referral & loyalty rebate
I have 6 referrals right now and user since 2016.

Like seriously?

Used to load youtube on 3G back in 2012-13.
It's not too bad when the reception is good.

roastpuff 06-03-2019 10:08 AM

The "3G" is simply 4G LTE limited to like 3-4MB/s speed. Enough for surfing, maps, streaming Spotify etc. Not great for Youtube or downloading large files.

Because if they call it 4G LTE then people expect 20MB+ speed and video streaming/Skype/video calls etc., but this is the "cheap" service so they limit it so people can't stream videos etc.

SkinnyPupp 06-04-2019 09:06 AM

Just call it 7M LTE (or whatever it's capped at) or "basic" then.. they are completely different networks! Sorry, this just sounds more and more retarded as I learn more about it FailFish

You can't call it 3G if it's not actually 3G FailFish That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard!

bcrdukes 06-04-2019 09:15 AM

Canadian marketing and advertising laws and precedents dictate what the carriers can advertise their services as.

It's North American marketing, so what do you expect? They're calling 4G LTE-A "5G-E" in the States for crying out loud. https://www.theverge.com/2019/3/22/1...work-lte-study

SkinnyPupp 06-04-2019 09:48 AM

I'll stop now.. it just makes me irrationally mad for some reason LUL

Manic! 06-04-2019 11:07 AM

They should call it 5GE.

Slifer 06-29-2019 01:15 PM
