VW sportwagen and alltrack is dead

https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/v...gen-dead-2019/

I went in for service and the advisor told me the bad news. Looks like sales arent great and thus VW decided to kill off the wagon :( :( :(

Buy one while you can!!! im thinking of actually buying out my wagon at the end of the lease.

JDMDreams 08-20-2019 06:56 PM

Is it because all the people either buy golf r or legacy wagons? Maybe cuz they don't do diesel no mo:considered:

Badhobz 08-20-2019 07:17 PM

I knowwww!!! When I was buying in 2017 I wanted tdi 4motion and 6speed. Ended up with DSG 4motion cuz they didn't even have the 6speed at the time and diesel gate killed the TDI.

Still getting great gas mileage though. Like 8.7/100 in the city and that's with the 4motion

nsx042003 08-20-2019 07:27 PM

the sad thing is everyone and their mom are buying CUV/SUV

sad sad time in the automotive world. It's where all the nice things that make a vehicle attractive are slowly dying out, year after year...manuals, wagons, sedans, etc.

westopher 08-20-2019 08:50 PM

People just want a car that facebooks the best. Can't update your status while enjoying driving dynamics. All anyone wants now are CUVs that look like a fucking beluga whale.

twitchyzero 08-21-2019 06:36 AM

unpopular opinion on here: estates/wagons look like shit

here's said beluga whale

Ah I missed my 2010 SportWagen. It was practical, reliable and great comfort/features for the price of a golf.

I don't how people can deal with lifting their kayak/bikes on their huge SUV. Wouldn't it be a bitch for your back?

That's alright, @Badhobz can afford a RS6 no problem.

Badhobz 08-21-2019 12:36 PM

That is sexy!!!! But I rather take the new Vette and save 40k.

white rocket 08-21-2019 01:10 PM

That sucks but I can't say I'm surprised. The demographic for a small wagon is, well, quite small. Most would just buy a CX-5, CR-V, etc. As people age they don't want to get "down" into their vehicle, they want a lateral move. #backpains. My mom ditched her Integra sedan back in the late 90's for a then-new CR-V due to this.

I loved my wife's Alltrack and kinda miss it still.

Wagons + Mods look great. Good example is an E46 Wagon, M3 conversion. Or this.

We needed more space. I still had a Golf R at the time while I waited for my 4Runner to come in. Ordered a 2019 Atlas Execline and picked it up on Dec 31st. Sold the Golf R and drove the Alltrack until March when the 4Runner arrived. Then sold the Alltrack. Had the 4Runner came in sooner I would have pushed to keep the Alltrack instead of buying the shitbag Atlas. Oh well. At least the wife will get to feel what real deprecation looks like when she wants to swap into something different. Hoping to swap her into the new gen Sequoia when it comes out in 2021.

Badhobz 08-21-2019 09:50 PM

pricing looks to be over 90k USD to start. So probably 100k+ CDN which will drop to roughly 50k after 4 years and then all the vultures (like me) will try and swoop in and buy it for 50% off. :lol

supafamous 08-22-2019 06:21 AM

Bummer as it's a terrific car. It was one of the cars my wife and I test drove as we made our list for a wagon/CUV. It was much peppier than I expected, had the great bones you'd expect from a MQB chassis, and was really well put together. Alas, it was missing some luxury features we really wanted (ventilated seats, heated steering wheel etc) and was just a tad too small (being able to put 2 adults and a child seat in the back comfortably mattered to us) so we ended up with a RDX.

If the Golf R version of it was available I might have been able to convince my wife the rear seat was big enough.

What a collection of unreliable money pits. I hope one day Audi gonna learn how to make a proper chassis on their Avant lol.

Badhobz 08-22-2019 10:49 AM

lawl. it is true though. These RS things are notoriously unreliable.

SkunkWorks 08-22-2019 12:05 PM

Can I join in for some wagon love as well? Thing's a POS but made it coast to coast with all my shit in the back because #wagonlife

More wagon love ... oh my .. how can you not like this ??!!

2019 AMG C 43 4MATIC Wagon, $59,900 * MSRP

Listen to the growl ...

JDMDreams 08-22-2019 05:01 PM

This is the debate I've been having, if I'm spending more than 40k on a nicer car it's hard not to buy a model 3 with the discounts considering I don't have to pay for gas any more:alone:
