D'arcy to Seton Portage to Lillooet https://i.postimg.cc/PqKT4kXN/Capture.jpg If you ever want to try some pretty intense 4x4'ing and see some amazing vistas of our beautiful province. Try this route. I was utterly blown away today at how beautiful this drive is. The only downside is im pretty sure we busted up my buddy's range rover permanently. The low coolant light was on (didnt see any drips though) and im pretty sure the tranny is fried cuz we kept smelling it while we were climbing. https://i.postimg.cc/RZdwcNHt/IMG-2218.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/Y9GgKRyN/IMG-2217.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/wBbJGZFT/IMG-2219.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/cJJwT0Rb/IMG-2171.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/7YfjBHTJ/IMG-2106.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/jdzHS8qZ/IMG-2159.jpg |
How long was the drive? Did you camp too? I take it a stockish Tundra would make it, no problem. |
1.5ish hours from Pemberton (start) to lilooet (finish). We just did it in a single day. Didn’t camp but holy moly would that be an epic camping. Any 4x4 can probably do it. It’s not super super horrible. If his soccer mom velar can make it I’m sure your tundra can no problem. P.s his wife is gonna be pissssseeeedddd Saw a Chevy Cruz crawl through going the opposite direction on this road |
does it demand more ground clearance than the service road to sloquet? google says mt currie to lillooet via d'arcy/seton portage is 140k (3 hours)...what speed were you guys going in the velar? |
Yes for sure more ground clearance than sloquet. You’re climbing a 3500 feet mountain with a forest service road so there are some parts that have about a 70-80 percent grade. Huge rocks too. I can’t imagine doing this in the wintertime without a locking diff. My buddy was gunning it pretty hard so I think we averaged about 40-50km\h through most of it. I’m not sure what google uses as the speed limit on the service roads but it took us roughly 1.5 hours to get across that section. |
Would a 2017 Honda Pilot with Wrangler tires make it? Haha |
I've driven that road in a sedan, most cars will make it fine, it's a rough ride though. |
Drove that road in a Jdm Legacy GTB with 17" tires. Even a Corolla or Camry would make it if you take it slow at the right places. |
That's a nice drive. I delivered and installed some large equipment up in Seton, we barely made it through the tunnel up on the Lillooet side. |
looking foward to trying it in the summer with the acura rally sportscar experimental :lawl: |
lol those tires |
That's a beautiful area. So much to take in. |
OP, were you in a rental vehicle? Seems like it still has those "do not smoke" stickers on the driver and passenger side windows. If so, I wouldn't mind taking a rental vehicle up there too. Sure as hell ain't gonna bust up my IS350! |
Looks like a regular service road. I thought it was something like the Rubicon Trail when I saw the words intense offroading lol. |

The one uphill after the bridge, however, was a bit of an issue. |
I’ve never been 4x4ing so it was intense as hell for me. I thought we were gonna dieeee That Chevy Cruz proves you can do it in all cars but I really thought we were gonna fall off the cliff. My buddy was driving that thing like a rally course and I was scared. https://i.postimg.cc/bYBwBp9D/B78643...F7-CFE7-EF.jpg |
Nice pics and video and all that, looks dope! Wouldn't this just barely scratch the surface of any Range Rover's ability? If they can't handle a service road and getting warning lights all over the place. |
