ICBC Claim for Rock Chips? I’ve been through a few incidents where I’ve had gravel sprayed upo on one of my cars and chipped the paint in multiple areas. I put off filing a claim because I figured something like this would get denied. I’ve read around that some have made claims that have been approved for similar incidents but I don’t know the details of their incident. My car paint is in great shape and accident free aside from chips to my hood, headlights and front bumper. Obviously quite a bit of it is just wear and tear but my most recent gravel spray hit my hood and bumper. Has anyone had any experience making a claim for something like this? I just want to know what I’m getting myself into before I go ahead and file a claim. I’m already expecting I get told it’s just “wear and tear” or something along the lines of that. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance :) |
Most likely they'll let you use your insurance but it would increase your rates. I've had one friend successfully claim rock chips and it didn't affect their premiums, but in their case it was a gravel truck who forgot to put the net up. His whole car was peppered. ICBC was probably able to ding the other party in that case. If you go through with it let us know how it goes |
That would count as a single vehicle accident and your rates will increase |
If it's an incident where you have footage of another vehicle causing negligence in spraying rocks and damaging your front end, should have a good high chance of making a successful claim against the other party. I successfully made a claim when a motorcycle was driving on S2S highway weaving traffic and lost control, wiped out and sprayed rocks all over my front. Made a claim with my dashcam footage successfully. Your regular daily driving with a random rock hitting your car, those won't fly through ICBC, will be out of your own pocket on your insurance if you wanted to make a claim. |
