Staycation - car camping locally.

Gents any ideas where to go for car camping locally ? I’ll be working from home, i figure i might as well go camping at the same time since the weather is nice.

The regular camping sites seem like a bad idea due to this social distancing requirement. Is there some trail or off the beaten path place that has nice views for car camping ?

What kinda car do you have? 4x4? Do you need power? Cell reception?

Uhm. If a provincial campsite is too ‘close together’ for your social distancing then no amount of fresh air can help you

I prefer heading out onto crown land vs provincial parks :alone:

Yeah I’ll need cell reception so I guess those Forest service roads are out eh ?

I got a vw sportwagon with 4motion so nothing too crazy is preferable

West harrison forest service road up to about 20-25 km has reasonable cell reception.

Was getting LTE in some spots.

I'd head out that way. Lots of spots here and there and the road appeared freshly graded when I went in about 4 weeks ago.

Didnt hit any snow.

Take bear spray and leave a trip plan with someone.

If you go to the west side of Harrison proceed with caution, in December there was active logging. If you don’t have a radio, take the corners slowly.

I heard Oppenheimer Park has great cell reception.

This is probably as local as it gets for camping. Has free wifi as well.

I don’t see west Harrison forest service road on google maps. I found the east forest service road but I guess the west road is the other side of the lake ?

StylinRed 03-17-2020 11:38 AM

Parks are being closed btw :lol

Google map the sasquatch inn near harrison mills.

Follow it north from there and you'll see it.

Alternatively invest in a copy of the backroads mapbook
